Masters of Set Design Compete in New Series HOT SET, Sept. 18 on SPACE

SPACE viewers will be transported into the immersive world of movie set mysticism in the new reality competition seriesHOT SET, premieringTuesday, Sept. 18 at10 p.m. ET. From the producers of the hit SPACE series FACE OFF (Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET), HOT SET pits Hollywood production designers against each other in a head-to-head battle of extreme design challenges as they work to build the best movie set inspired by the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres. Each episode is one complete competition, with new production designers introduced weekly, and the weekly winner takes home $10,000. The weekly champion will be determined based on creativity, technique, and overall presentation. Each week, two production designers are given the challenge of impressing an intimidating panel of judges with their completed sets and are given 30 minutes to shoot a scene on their original set. Radio and television personality Ben Mankiewicz hosts HOT SET, with the judges including three-time Art Director’s Guild Award nominee Curt Beech (Star Trek, The Coup), two-time Academy Award® nominee Lilly Kilvert (The Last Samurai, Legends of the Fall), and Art Director’s Guild Award nominee Barry Robison (X- Men Origins: Wolverine, The Chronicles of Narnia).

The designers will each have two team members to help them execute the challenge, and can also draw support from a skilled team of carpenters and scenic painters, the expansive HOT SET supply room, and many prop and set dressing houses in Hollywood.

HOT SET is produced by Mission Control Media. Dwight D. Smith and Michael Agbabian (FACE OFF) are executive producers along with Aliyah Silverstein (HELL’S KITCHEN).
