Team Canada Defends World Title on Home Ice at the 2013 IIHF WORLD WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP, Live on TSN From April 2-9

Hayley Wickenheiser and Jayna Hefford lead Team Canada in a battle for back-to-back gold medals on the world stage – on home ice – at the 2013 IIHF WORLD WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP, live on TSN. As official broadcaster of Hockey Canada, TSN’s exclusive live coverage beginsTuesday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. ET with Team Canada’s opening game against rival Team U.S.A. Coverage runs April 2-9 and includes every Team Canada match-up, plus the semifinal and Final (see complete broadcast schedule below). All games broadcast on TSN are available live on TSN Mobile TV and all Team Canada games are also available on-demand on TSN.ca. French-language coverage of the tournament is available on RDS, RDS2, and RDS INFO.

TSN is live on location to cover every angle of the 2013 IIHF WORLD WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP. TSN’s Rod Black handles play-by-play duties alongside colour commentator Cheryl Pounder, a five-time World Champion and two-time Olympic gold medallist. SPORTCENTRE’s Natasha Staniszewski is on site in Ottawa to host TSN’s coverage alongside Jennifer Botterill, a five-time World Champion and three-time Olympic gold medallist. In addition, six-time World Champion and two-time Olympic gold medallist Cassie Campbell joins TSN’s coverage for the semifinal and Final games.

Team Canada looks to defend their world title following last year’s thrilling overtime final against Team U.S.A. Dan Church returns to coach a solid Canadian roster, which includes goaltenders Charline Labonté, Geneviève Lacasse, and Shannon Szabados, along with skaters Meghan Agosta-Marciano, Gillian Apps, Courtney Birchard, Tessa Bonhomme, Bailey Bram, Laura Fortino, Hefford, Haley Irwin, Brianne Jenner, Rebecca Johnston, Jocelyne Larocque, Meaghan Mikkelson, Caroline Ouellette, Marie-Philip Poulin, Lauriane Rougeau, Natalie Spooner, Sarah Vaillancourt, Jennifer Wakefield, Catherine Ward, and Wickenheiser. With a total of 10 gold medals, Canada has won more world titles than any other country and has appeared in every final since the tournament’s inception.
