Crave Highlights for February 2022

MUST-WATCH TITLES FOR FEBRUARY


FEBRUARY 1 – Crave Celebrates Black History Month

  • To commemorate Black History Month, Crave highlights Black creators, talent, and cultural figures through a number of special collections, including: TV Series #ForTheCulture Collection (BMF, SISTER, THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR, THAT DAMN MICHAEL CHE, ZIWE, and more); Black Movies Matter Collection (42, Soul Food, Space Jam, and more); Docs & Historical Drama Collection (Tina, Tiger, Between The World and Me, Whitney “Can I Be Me”, and more); and Strong Female Leads Collection (EUPHORIA, 2 DOPE QUEENS, INSECURE, I MAY DESTROY YOU, and more). Other notable premieres during Black History Month include new documentaries AILEY, and HBO Documentary FREDERICK DOUGLASS.


FEBRUARY 6 – STARZ’s POWER BOOK IV: FORCE *Series Premiere*

  • STARZ’s POWER BOOK IV: FORCE, headlined by Joseph Sikora and the latest spinoff in the POWER universe, premieres on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 9 pm ET. As Tommy leaves New York after losing Ghost, LaKeisha and the only city he’s ever known, he makes a quick detour to close an old wound that’s been haunting him for decades. What was supposed to be a quick stop, turns into a labyrinth of family secrets and lies Tommy thought were long buried. One step leads to another, and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s drug game, inserting himself between the city’s two biggest crews. In a city divided by race, Tommy straddles the line, ultimately becoming the lynchpin that not only unites them – but holds the power to watch them crumble. Tommy uses his outsider status to his advantage, breaking all the local rules and rewriting them on his quest to become the biggest drug dealer in Chicago. The series follows a weekly release schedule with new episodes dropping Sundays.


FEBRUARY 7 – Crave Original Documentary TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE *Documentary Premiere*

  • Directed by Banger Films’ Sam Dunn and Marc Ricciardelli, the Crave Original documentary TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE chronicles the career of the multi-gold and platinum-selling power rock band, Triumph. This rock trio – which includes drummer/singer Gil Moore, singer/guitarist Rik Emmett, and bassist/keyboardist Mike Levine – dominated North American radio and MTV in the ‘80s”. Despite being one of the world’s biggest rock bands, the group split at the height of their fame and seemingly disappeared without explanation to their fans or media. Set to a mesmerizing visual backdrop of spandex, ‘80s hair, and explosive pyro, TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE delivers a deeper story about fame and the human condition, while chronicling the band’s reunion for what might be the very last time they play music together. The documentary streams Monday, Feb. 7 on Crave.


FEBRUARY 10 – Crave Original Series PILLOW TALK *New Series*

  • An adaptation of the French-language Noovo series ENTRE DEUX DRAPS, PILLOW TALK is a 10-part docucomedy that takes place entirely in bedrooms. The series revolves around four couples, and one set of roommates, of varying ages and backgrounds. With a realistic tone, the series explores in a raw and unexpected way, the drama and hilarity experienced by couples in the intimacy of the bedroom. All 10 episodes are available for streaming on Thursday, Feb. 10.


FEBRUARY 11 – DOLLFACE *Season 2*

  • Season 2 of DOLLFACE returns, with 10 episodes available to stream Friday, Feb. 11. The series ollows Jules (Kat Dennings) and her best friends – post pandemic, post heartbreak, heading toward turning thirty. Having successfully reunited with her friends (Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell, and Esther Povitsky), Jules must now balance keeping their group together as the women navigate work, love, and a deeper relationship with each of themselves.


FEBRUARY 20 – HBO’s LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER *Season 9 Premiere*

  • HBO’s LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER returns for Season 9 on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 11 p.m. ET. Comedian John Oliver satirically covers the week in news, politics, and current events in this Emmy®-winning variety series. LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes dropping Sunday nights at 11 p.m. ET, and on-demand the following morning.


FEBRUARY 27 – SHOWTIME’s SUPER PUMPED *Series Premiere*

  • Based on Mike Isaac’s bestselling book of the same name, SUPER PUMPED: THE BATTLE FOR UBER, is the first installment of SHOWTIME’s new anthology series in which each season explores a story that rocked the business world to its core and changed culture. Starring Emmy-winner Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Trial of the Chicago 7), Uma Thurman (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction), and Kyle Chandler (FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS), SUPER PUMPED: THE BATTLE FOR UBER tells the story of one of Silicon Valley’s most successful and most destructive unicorns, Uber. The series depicts the roller-coaster ride of the upstart transportation company, embodying the highs and lows of Silicon Valley. Even amid the radical upheaval generated within the global tech capital, Uber stands out as both a marvel and a cautionary tale, featuring internal and external battles that ripple with unpredictable consequences. The series follows a weekly release schedule with new episodes dropping Sundays.

FEBRUARY 3 – HBO Max’s RAISED BY WOLVES *Season 2 Premiere*

  • In Season 2 of RAISED BY WOLVES, Android partners Mother (Amanda Collin) and Father (Abubakar Salim), along with their brood of six human children, join a newly formed atheistic colony in Kepler 22 b’s, mysterious tropical zone. But navigating this strange new society is only the start of their troubles as Mother’s “natural child” threatens to drive what little remains of the human race to extinction. Episode 1 and 2 drop on Thursday, Feb. 3, followed by a weekly release schedule, with new episodes streaming Thursdays.


FEBRUARY 4 – THE PANTHERS *Series Premiere*

  • Making its international premiere as an official selection at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, THE PANTHERS is a music-influenced, social justice drama series from New Zealand. The six, hour-long episodes, based-on-a-true-story series covers a devastating and resonant period in New Zealand’s history through the dramatization of the founding of The Polynesian Panthers – a revolutionary social justice movement directly inspired by the Black Panther movement in the U.S. The 1974-set narrative follows a young man who is the black sheep of his Tongan family who is frustrated by his community being stuck in a broken economic and criminal justice system. In the face of increasingly aggressive racial-profiling from the government and police force, he forms his own revolutionary movement The Polynesian Panthers, while also trying to juggle his conservative parents’ expectations, and romance with a street queen. All six episodes drop Friday, Feb. 4.


FEBRUARY 10 – KIMI *Movie Premiere*

  • KIMI, the latest twisty thriller from director Steven Soderbergh and starring Zoe Kravitz (BIG LITTLE LIES), debuts Thursday, Feb. 10. The film follows an agoraphobic tech worker who discovers recorded evidence of a violent crime during an ordinary data stream review, and tries reporting it up the chain of command at her company. Meeting with resistance and bureaucracy, she realizes that in order to get involved, she will have to do the thing she fears the most — leave her apartment.


FEBRUARY 10 – HBO Max’s THE GIRL BEFORE *Series Premiere*

  • The psychological thriller THE GIRL BEFORE is a gripping adaptation of JP Delany’s best-selling novel of the same name. The four-part series tells the story of Jane (Gugu Mbatha-Raw, LOKI), who gets the chance to move into a beautiful, ultra-minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect (David Oyelowo, Selma). There’s just one catch: the occupants must abide by his list of exacting rules. Jane starts to feel the house changing her in unexpected ways, but when she makes the shocking discovery about her predecessor, Emma (Jessica Plummer, How Girls Talk at Parties), she’s forced to confront unnerving similarities. As the two women’s timelines interweave, Jane begins to question if her fate will be the same as the girl before. All episodes are available for streaming on Thursday, Feb. 10.


FEBRUARY 26 – CRY MACHO *Movie Premiere*

  • Starring, directed, and produced by Clint Eastwood, CRY MACHO is an uplifting and poignant drama that tells the story of Mike Milo, a one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder who, in 1979, takes a job from an ex-boss to bring the man’s young son home from Mexico. Forced to take the backroads on their way to Texas, the unlikely pair faces an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary horseman finds unexpected connections, and his own sense of redemption.
