Super Channel, Canada’s only national pay television network, is pleased to announce the exclusive world premiere of SOUNDS LIKE A REVOLUTION, May 25 at 9 p.m. ET in crystal clear HD.
Sounds Like a Revolution is a documentary about a new generation of activist musicians who are living proof that music is an important and powerful tool in the ongoing struggle for social change. From the Dixie Chicks to Michael Franti to the punk band Anti-Flag, artists across the musical spectrum recount their motivations and struggles in a post-9/11 environment where dissent was silenced and censorship was commonplace. With themes that explore the role of artists in society, freedom of expression and democratic participation Sounds Like a Revolution presents a unique historical perspective behind the new wave of protest music sweeping America and offers new hope for the future.
Narrated by Jackie Richardson, the film stars hip hop artist Paris, roots reggae star Michael Franti of Spearhead, punk rockers Fat Mike of NOFX and Justin Sane of Anti-Flag. Also featured are David Crosby, The Dixie Chicks, Pete Seeger, Steve Earle, Ice T, Henry Rollins, Al Jourgensen, Ani DiFranco, Jello Biafra, Natalie Pa’apa’a (Blue King Brown), Raymond “Boots” Riley, Tom Morello with Rage Against the Machine, and more.
“Super Channel is always happy to showcase some of the world’s best documentaries particularly when they are from right here at home,” said Justin Rebelo, Super Channel Director of Canadian Programming. “With Sounds Like a Revolution it is even sweeter as the world class musicians featured have a great message for all of us.”
“I am proud that Sounds Like a Revolution is premiering on Super Channel,” said Summer Preney, Director. “Their commitment to engaging, thought provoking, original stories told by Canadians with a global perspective is beyond reproach. With shrinking opportunities for documentary filmmaking in Canada, Super Channel is committed to the independent spirit and I am proud to be a part of their programming.”
