CTV takes centre stage and shows off the biggest and brightest talent on television right now with a three-night, six-hour, back-to-back star-studded finale extravaganza, beginning this holiday Monday, May 24. DANCING WITH THE STARS, the #1 show on /A\, comes to a close as fan favourites Erin Andrews, Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger compete for the coveted mirror ball trophy during the final performance show of the season on Monday, May 24 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV. Then, on Tuesday, May 25, it’s three hours of event television on CTV with the head-to-head singing showdown on AMERICAN IDOL at 8 p.m. ET followed by the two-hour season finale of DANCING WITH THE STARS at 9 p.m. ET. Finally, on Wednesday, May 26 at 8 p.m. ET, Simon Cowell makes his final remarks from the judging panel on the two-hour season finale of AMERICAN IDOL live from the Nokia Theatre in L.A. After one of the most attention-grabbing seasons of DANCING WITH THE STARS yet, ESPN host Erin Andrews, Olympic Games gold medallist Evan Lysacek and sultry pop star Nicole Scherzinger set fire to the dance floor as they perform for the country’s votes one last time on Monday. On Tuesday, catch all the results live as Tom Bergeron and former DWTS champion Brooke Burke present the Mirror Ball trophy to this season’s winner.
Before the Mirror Ball champion is revealed, Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze sing one last time for America’s votes during the final performance episode of AMERICAN IDOL live on Tuesday. To cap off all the excitement, the Top 12 reunite live on stage on Wednesday before the newest American Idol is crowned. The end of the series’ ninth season also closes a chapter in AMERICAN IDOL history as Simon Cowell steps down from the judging panel.
Both AMERICAN IDOL and DANCING WITH THE STARS continue to be two of Canada’s most-watched programs. As CTV’s #1 program with total viewers this season, AMERICAN IDOL has gained momentum and is up 23% in total viewers for performance shows over last year. This week’s Top 3 results episode alone earned 2.6 million viewers and was the #1 show of the day. Similarly, DANCING WITH THE STARS is the top program on /A\, with a total viewers increase of 47% for performance shows over last spring, bringing in 1.7 million total viewers on average.
Once again ETALK will be front and centre at both finales offering Canadians coverage of the red carpet and reporting on all the action, as the biggest names in show biz attend two of the most talked about finales in Hollywood. Throughout finale week, ETALK will be backstage catching all the emotional and shocking moments as they happen.
