YTV Unveils Its Fall 2010 Programming Highlights

Leading kids’ broadcaster Corus Entertainment announced today details from its fall 2010 programming line ups for YTV, Nickelodeon (Canada) and Treehouse. Committed to providing viewers with quality content from preschool shows that parents trust, to entertaining live-action comedies and reality programming for kids and their families, to nighttime drama for teens, audiences at home can expect non-stop hits this fall.

VICTORIOUS – NEW SERIES
Premieres: Friday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m.
Already a Nickelodeon hit, this half-hour live-action comedy follows the journey of Tori Vega (Victoria Justice), a 15 year-old girl who has lived in the shadow of her sister Trina – the “star” of the family. When Tori unexpectedly lands an invitation to attend the prestigious Hollywood Arts high school, she soon learns that getting in might be a lot easier than fitting in. Although she doesn’t recognize how talented she really is, Victorious follows Tori’s journey toward discovering that she’s born to be a performer and that entertaining people is what makes her happiest.

BIG TIME RUSH – NEW SERIES
Premieres: Monday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Meet Kendall, James, Logan and Carlos – four best friends from Minnesota who have been given the chance of a lifetime to join the glamorous L.A. pop music scene in Big Time Rush. But trading hockey sticks for hair and make-up isn’t always easy. Will celebrity life change these talented heartthrob teens forever? Produced in partnership by Nickelodeon and Sony Music, each half-hour of this live-action series features original songs performed by the group.

SIDEKICK – NEW SERIES
Premieres: Saturday, September 11 at 10:30 a.m.
Produced in Canada by Nelvana Studio, this animated series follows young orphan Eric Neddles who lives in Sidekick, an animated world filled with superheroes and super villains. On the day Eric was to begin sidekicking for the greatest superhero of all time, Maxum Man, Maxum went missing – leaving this rookie with the task of making the world think that Maxum is still on the job. Since sidekicks aren’t good enough to be superheroes, Eric and his second stringer friends are always given the worst jobs, which mean they’re going to be the first projectiles thrown.

LIFE UNEXPECTED – NEW SERIES
Premieres: Friday, September 10 at 10 p.m.
In this CW family drama, after bouncing around from a variety of foster families, 15 year-old Lux has decided to become an emancipated minor. As she works her way through the legal system, she finds out her biological parents are local radio personality Cate Cassidy and thirty-something Nate “Baze” Bazile, who had a one-night stand. However, when a judge decides that Lux isn’t ready for emancipation and unexpectedly grants temporary joint custody to Cat and Baze, they agree to try to get past the tension and awkwardness and give Lux the family she deserves.

KYLE XY – NEW SERIES
Premieres: Monday, October 4 at 9 p.m.
This ABC Family series follows the story of Kyle (Matt Dallas), a mysterious teenage boy who by his actions, appears to be a newborn. When Kyle is placed in an institution, psychologist Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre) realizes that he will need special attention so she decides to bring Kyle home, much to the chagrin of her two children and husband Stephen (Bruce Thomas). However, overtime, Kyle becomes part of the family and begins to experience everyday things like computers, music and even high school parties.

BABAR AND THE ADVENTURES OF BADOU – NEW SERIES
Premieres: Monday, November 22 at 11 a.m.
A new CGI animated series produced by Nelvana Studio and TeamTO, Babar and the Adventures of Badou follows eight-year-old Badou and his famous grandfather Babar. Scheduled in YTV’s Playtime block, Badou has an appetite for adventure and a tendency to get caught in some tricky situations along with his colourful friends Chiku the monkey and Zawadi, the zebra. Navigating the ups and downs of growing up in Celesteville’s royal palace, Badou never forgets that King Babar will always be there to offer guidance and support.

ADDITIONAL SERIES:
Other additions to the schedule this fall include: Fanboy & Chum Chum. New episodes of returning series include: SpongeBob SquarePants, iCarly, How to be Indie Season 2, That’s So Weird! Season 2, The Next Star Season 3, Beyblade: Metal Fusion, Kid vs. Kat, In Real Life Season 2, and League of Super Evil.
