TSN Launches the 2011 CFL Season With Jam-Packed Week of CFL Specials

TSN gets ready for the gridiron with an in-depth look at the upcoming regular season during the CFL PREVIEW SHOW on Tuesday, June 28 at 8 p.m. ET live on TSN. Leading up to the first coin toss of the season, Canada’s Sports Leader will also air five prime-time CFL specials including HUDDLE FOR HAITI, DUANE FORDE’S CANADIANS, TOP 50 CFL PLAYERS and JOURNEY TO THE GREY CUP: THE 2010 MONTREAL ALOUETTES.

As the official broadcaster of the CFL, TSN is home to the league’s entire 2011 season, including all regular season and playoff games and the 99th GREY CUP. The complete 77-game package in High Definition kicks off Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m. ET live on TSN with BC @ Montreal. All games are available live on TSN MOBILE TV and on-demand at TSN.ca.

Below is an overview of the TSN-produced CFL specials, beginning next week:

CFL PREVIEW SHOW
Tuesday, June 28 at 8 p.m. ET live on TSN
TSN’s special two-hour original production will give football fans a complete overview of the 2011 CFL regular season. Hosted by Dave Randorf, the CFL PREVIEW SHOW brings together CFL ON TSN panellists Chris Schultz, Matt Dunigan, Jock Climie and Milt Stegall, as they break down all eight CFL teams with detailed reports and analysis. TSN’s game analysts Glen Suitor and Duane Forde will provide additional insight and commentary throughout the show.

The CFL PREVIEW SHOW also features some football food for thought, as CFL Insider Dave Naylor examines the future for promising Canadian quarterbacks in the league and assesses what – if anything – the league should do to help open doors for them.

During the CFL PREVIEW SHOW, football fans will get a sneak peek at the upcoming four-part documentary series THE EXTRA YARD: INSIDE THE 2011 ARGOS, which follows the Argonauts from this season’s training camp to the team’s Labour Day Weekend game against the BC Lions on September 2. The first 60-minute episode debuts Sunday, July 3 at 10 p.m. ET on TSN following the Edmonton @ Saskatchewan game at 7 p.m. ET live on TSN.

The CFL PREVIEW SHOW is also available on TSN MOBILE TV, which can be accessed on video-enabled mobile devices subscribing to the Bell Mobile TV Sports Package.

HUDDLE FOR HAITI
Monday, June 27 at 7 p.m. ET on TSN
This moving TSN original documentary revisits the week CFL Insider Dave Naylor spent earlier this year in Port-au-Prince, Haiti alongside seven CFL players participating in HUDDLE FOR HAITI, the humanitarian endeavour that marked the first anniversary of Haiti’s devastating earthquake – considered one of the worst natural disasters in modern history. Naylor’s report captures the players’ emotional journey as they try to help rebuild the city and search for hope among the ruins in HUDDLE FOR HAITI, premiering Monday, June 27 at 7 p.m. ET on TSN.

DUANE FORDE’S CANADIANS
Monday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN
TSN showcases the top-10 Canadian players currently in the CFL during DUANE FORDE’S CANADIANS on Monday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN. TSN’s Duane Forde and Rod Black will co-host the 30-minute special as Ricky Foley, Doug Brown, Shea Emry and Jon Cornish battle for the honour of being crowned the top Canadian in the league. The TSN-produced show also ranks each team by the strength of their homegrown talent. Football fans can visit TSN.ca for additional features from DUANE FORDE’S CANADIANS.

TOP 50 CFL PLAYERS
Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. ET on TSN
TSN’s football experts, together with well-respected CFL sports writers from across the country, rank the league’s best players during the TOP 50 CFL PLAYERS on Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. ET on TSN. As they count down to the #1-ranked player, the CFL ON TSN panel will evaluate what each athlete brings to the field and to their team. TSN.ca will offer special extras from the TOP 50 CFL PLAYERS.

JOURNEY TO THE GREY CUP: THE 2010 MONTREAL ALOUETTES
Tuesday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN
This special TSN production tells the story of the mighty Montreal Alouettes and their path towards a second-consecutive championship. The 30-minute documentary follows Alouettes’ veteran Anthony Calvillo as he battles through injury to lead his team from the regular season into the playoffs, culminating with the 98th GREY CUP. JOURNEY TO THE GREY CUP: THE 2010 MONTREAL ALOUETTES runs Tuesday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN.
