Rogers Sportsnet hit a network ratings record for last night’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game as 660,000* (2+) viewers tuned in for the National League’s 5-1 win over the American League. The record audience was a 16 per cent increase over the previous record of 567,000 viewers in 2010.
The Sportsnet audience peaked at 998,000* viewers in the fourth inning when All-Star Game MVP Prince Fielder belted a three-run homer to help the National League secure home-field advantage for the 2011 World Series.
Audiences for Sportsnet’s coverage of the Toronto Blue Jays are also on the upswing during the first half of the season (April to mid-July 2011), with an average audience of 500,000 viewers per game, representing a 29 per cent (2+) increase compared to the same period in 2010 (389,000). This year’s mid-season average is 14 per cent greater than the full 2010 season average of 437,000 viewers.
Jose Bautista and Ricky Romero return from the All-Star break as the Blue Jays host the New York Yankees during Sportsnet’s 80s-themed broadcast on Thursday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. (ET)/3:30 p.m. (PT) on the Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific channels.
