Canada’s Exploration Production Inc. (EPI) Docks MIGHTY SHIPS with Australia’s Seven Network and Smithsonian Channel HD in the U.S.

What a remarkable voyage! Discovery Channel Canada’s production company Exploration Production Inc. (EPI) announced today its biggest sale in the terrestrial marketplace. Australia’s Seven Network has acquired EPI’s entire MIGHTY SHIPS library, representing three seasons (6 x 60), one pilot (1 x 60) and a soon-to-be-produced fourth season (6 x 60). And in the northern hemisphere, EPI has sold the series to the Emmy® Award-winning Smithsonian Channel HD for U.S. broadcast. These deals build on EPI’s successful cable and satellite sales of MIGHTY SHIPS internationally, where the series is also available to viewers in the U.K., Europe, Scandinavia and South-East Asia.

Offering exclusive behind-the-scenes access, MIGHTY SHIPS explores every part of today’s most extraordinary vessels, from pirate-hunting naval frigates and high-tech ocean dredgers to luxury cruise ships and lethal nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. Using high-end HD visuals and extraordinary 5.1 surround sound, MIGHTY SHIPS peers into engine rooms, bridges and bilges and meets captains, engineers and able seamen, as it reveals everything from the mechanics of modern sea-going to the human drama seafarers face.

The winning combination of “high tech, high stakes and high seas” makes MIGHTY SHIPS fascinating television viewing. Australian terrestrial broadcaster, Seven Network, recently premiered the series’ pilot episode, MIGHTY SHIPS: “Inside the Queen Mary 2,” and delivered one million viewers*. The series is also a popular audience hit on Discovery Channel Canada, where Season 3 currently airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

“From the Captain’s bridge to the boiler room, MIGHTY SHIPS indulges a human curiosity and sense of awe that’s universal,” said Tony Leadman, Head, Worldwide Program Distribution, EPI. “I couldn’t be more thrilled that my colleagues at the world’s leading broadcasting companies feel the same way and are adding this remarkable series to their schedules.”

MIGHTY SHIPS is produced by Exploration Production Inc. (EPI) in association with Discovery Channel Canada.
