Season 5 of CANADA’S WORST HANDYMAN Renos Its Way into Ratings History, Reaching Over a Million Viewers Weekly During Seven-Episode Run

CANADA’S WORST is Canada’s best! Following in the footsteps of its record-breaking companion series, CANADA’S WORST DRIVER 5, Season 5 of CANADA’S WORST HANDYMAN can hang up its toolbelt for the season with its highest average audience in series history. With a season average of 523,000 viewers, HANDYMAN ranks as the #2 Canadian series on Canadian and U.S. Specialty Television (behind DRIVER) for P2+, A25-54 and A18-49 since specialty audiences started being recorded electronically more than 15 years ago. With more than one million unique visitors watching some or all of the series each week, HANDYMAN ended the season on Monday, June 14 with 520,000 viewers catching High Prairie, AB, resident Deen awarded the ignominious title of CANADA’S WORST HANDYMAN.

“We’re thrilled about this season’s HANDYMAN ranking and the overall continued success of the CANADA’S WORST franchise,” said Ken MacDonald, Vice-President of Programming for Discovery Channel. “The sustained audience growth of these series is testament to the depth of ingenuity and talent of producers Proper Television and the series’ host and writer Andrew Younghusband. This balance of entertainment, information and compelling characters season after season is a winning combination for Discovery Channel – and our viewers.”

Last Monday’s season finale saw Delta Upsilon fraternity members, from a southern Ontario university town, inspect each handyman’s work in their frat house before the experts ultimately named Deen this season’s CANADA’S WORST HANDYMAN. Attempting to install a biometric deadbolt and battle against time – and their patience – to complete the rest of their unfinished projects, each participant walked away from their final test with hours of expert coaching from carpentry expert Gail Prosser-Craig and contractor Geoff Woodmansey. Together, and with Younghusband, they mentored and evaluated a barrage of basic DIY challenges throughout the seven-part series in a bid to help them become fully rehabilitated.

With over 1,200 viewer comments online, worsthandyman.ca was a fan favourite this season offering exclusive interactive content, bonus material and full episodes.

To catch all the disastrous DIY Season 5 drama from the very beginning tune in to Discovery Channel beginning Saturday, June 26 at 11 p.m. ET or visit worsthandyman.ca.
