With a successful first season under their belts, the Rookie Blue teams is ready to get back into action with the second season premiering wednesday @ 10pm on Global and ABC.
FROM SEASON 1 TO SEASON 2

For the second season, the creative team was faced with the exciting challenge of maintaining the general tone that audiences connected to in the first season, while also getting a chance to deepen characters and develop more intricate storyline. As executive producer Tassie Cameron explains: “In the first season we were trying to brand our show and establish our characters. In the second season, we get to have a little more fin, breaking some of our own rules and developing our characters a bit more. The characters become more complex because we can explore beyond their defining characteristics – we get to develop their back stories, their past, their families, their loved lives and how they’ve become the people they are today.“
NEW RECURRING CHARACTER

When Detective Jo Rosati was called into 15 Division to help with a downtown shooting, the last person she expected to run into was her ex-boyfriend Luke Callighan. When she learns that his girlfriend is the all-star rookie officer Andy McNally, she can’t help but be anoyed.
The kind of women who can make rubber boots look sexy, Detective Rosati is a great cop who put everything aside to get to where she is today. Yet even with all her professional success, Jo still wonders if she could have – should have – managed her personal life a little differently. Now presented with the opportunity to make amends with Luke, Jo is hell-bent on doing just that. Even though doing that might rub certain people the wrong way.
This season, not only will Jo be going toe-to-toe with the criminals, but she’ll also be going toe-to-toe with Andy McNally. And as she strives to get what she wants she’s also faced with the repercussions of her actions.
Sometimes even when you win, you lose.
The addition of recurring guest star Camille Sillivan as Detective Jo Rosati was designed to shake up the existing love triangle between the characters of Andy, Luke and Sam. “Jo is very savy, slightly older and much more cynical female presence, which we didn’t have in the first season. It was fun to put her opposite three very young female rookies and watch them both bond and come into conflict. Jo really added an interesting dynamic to the division.” says Cameron.

Channel Canada Reviews the first three episodes (by Randi Dertzo)
I enjoyed the first season of Rookie Blue and I was looking forward to watching the first three season 2 episodes sent to me. In the first episode, Andy’s running crowd control of a downtown concert when she gets hit by an unkown shooter. Since all detective were already busy with other cases, the Division calls in Detective Jo Rosati to help them out with the shooting. The rest of the episode is mixed with Jo’s investigation but also Andy’s investigation who obsesses as to why the shooter did this. We also get our first meet between Luke and his ex flame Jo. In other episodes, you can see the tension building between Jo and Andy and it will be interesting to see how this all ends.

In the second episode, Andy and Gail go undercover as waitresses to stop the drug trafficking going on at this club, owned by Oliver’s ex partner, who also saved his lfe in the lne of duty. Finally, in the third episode, what first seemed like a regular traffic accident gets turned into a bizarre investigation after the driver responsible for the accident flees the scene while Andy and Swarek arrive at the scene. Taking a look at the car, they disvoer three severed heads! The suspect is an emotionally-disturbed man who obsesses about Andy and ultimatly shows up at Andy and Luke’s home and ends up shooting Luke!
So in the first three episodes, Andy gets shot, goes undercover, has to deal with “the ex”, gets engaged (in a way that has lots to be desired) and has her fiance shot. Can’t wait for episode 4!
June 23rd Edit: I’ve rephrased the last paragraph but no new info was added. Yes, Andy still gets the ring! 🙂
