This second day of the two-day marathon concludes with the all-new season finale at 8pm, as the librarians discover that Prospero’s magic is wreaking havoc with the technology of the world, and Flynn and Baird must travel to 1611 while the rest of the team battles in the present.

A Conversation with the Prime Minister – 8 to 9pm on CTV

Lisa Laflamme speaks with Justin Trudeau about the year just ending and the year to come, and the challenges Canada faces heading into the future. (This also airs on New Year’s Eve at 7pm on CTV Two.)

Royal Variety Performance 2015 – 8 to 10pm on CBC

Cirque du Soleil provides a little Canadian content in this year’s Royal Variety Performance held in the presence of HRH Prince Harry. Other performers include One Direction, Sir Elton John, The Corrs, Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Josh Groban, Kylie Minogue, Ricky Martin and the cast of Mary Poppins, among others.

The 38^th Annual Kennedy Center Honors – 9 to 11pm on CBS

This year’s honourees of those who have contributed to American culture through the arts are singer-songwriter Carole King, filmmaker George Lucas, singer-dancer-actress Rita Moreno, conductor Seiji Ozawa and actress Cicely Tyson. Stephen Colbert hosts.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2016 – 8 to 11pm/11:30 to 1am on ABC/City

Joining Ryan Seacrest as co-hosts this year are one again Jenny McCarthy and Fergie.  Taylor Swift will premiere her new “Out of the Woods” music video, and other performers include Carrie Underwood, Nick Jonas, Nico and Vinz, Train, Iggy Azalea, Bastille, Jason Derulo, Elton John, Florida Georgia Line, Magic!, Idina Manzel, Charli XCX, One Direction, Meghan Trainor, Gavin DeGraw, Lady Antebellum, Demi Lovato, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

Galavant – 8 to 10pm on ABC – First season marathon

Before season two begins, here’s a chance to catch up on the four half-hours from season one. This epic musical-comedy fairy tale has a Monty-Pythonesque tinge to it. Hang in there until the third half-hour at 9pm, which features Ricky Gervais.
