37th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards To Be Broadcast Exclusively on Hollywood Suite

Break out the bubbly and the popcorn! Hollywood Suite is once again the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of the Film Independent Spirit Awards, now in its 37th year. Hosted by power couple Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation, Pam & Tommy) and Megan Mullally (Will & Grace, Children’s Hospital) the awards will air live from Santa Monica, California on Sunday, March 6 at 5pm ET on Hollywood Suite.

“We are sincerely excited to be hosting the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards. We hope to get a little rowdy, but it’ll mainly be legitimate cinematic discourse. Although, with the two of us involved, it’s more likely to be intercourse. Either way it’ll be legit.” – Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman

This year’s Best Feature nominees are: A CHIARA, C’MON C’MON, THE LOST DAUGHTER, THE NOVICE and ZOLA. Acting nominees include Murray Bartlett (THE WHITE LOTUS), Patti Harrison (TOGETHER TOGETHER), Michael Greyeyes (WILD INDIAN), Isabelle Fuhrman (THE NOVICE), Taylour Paige (ZOLA), Simon Rex (RED ROCKET), Ruth Negga (PASSING) and Clifton Collins Jr. (JOCKEY). The 2022 Robert Altman Award, which honours the year’s best ensemble cast, is going to the team behind the riveting drama MASS, written and directed by Fran Kranz and starring Ann Dowd, Reed Birney, Jason Isaacs, and Martha Plimpton.

“In a crowded awards season that can often see the same big-budget films lauded over and over again, the Film Independent Spirit Awards are a breath of fresh air,” commented David Kines, President Hollywood Suite. “The awards are bold, smart, and hilarious. As an independent ourselves, we are proud to showcase the cream of the indie crop as the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of the awards for the 9th year.”

“We are thrilled to again share the Film Independent Spirit Awards with Canadian audiences,” said Film Independent President Josh Welsh. “At the Spirit Awards we celebrate the bold, the strange, and the beautiful, which is also an apt description of our hosts, Megan Mulally and Nick Offerman. Please join us on Hollywood Suite!” – Josh Welsh, President Film Independent
