Emmy® and BAFTA® Award-Winning Actor Sean Bean Narrates Love Nature’s New Original Documentary Special, Osprey: Sea Raptor

Love Nature kicks off 2022 with the Canadian broadcast debut of the highly-anticipated documentary special, Osprey: Sea Raptor (1×60’; 4K and HDR), narrated by Emmy® and BAFTA® Award-winning actor, Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Time, Game of Thrones). During the one-hour blue-chip special, Sean Bean shares the true story of a pair of magnificent raptors, a life-long couple, as they reunite having traveled separately across continents to the same location year-after-year to raise their young. Filmed in the often-overlooked American wetland, Osprey: Sea Raptor spotlights this unique and ubiquitous aquatic raptor species known for its impressive nests, life-long partnerships, dynamic social interactions and masterful hunting prowess. Osprey: Sea Raptor is rolling out globally on Love Nature’s linear and streaming platforms with the Canadian broadcast premiere slated to air Wednesday, January 12 at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT.

Osprey: Sea Raptor will introduce wildlife and nature fans to an incredible osprey couple, thriving among other species in a wild area not far from urban communities. It is truly a reminder of just how close to nature we all are,” says Sean Bean. “The talented team that brought this documentary to life tirelessly tracked this osprey couple in their nest for years and I am thrilled that audiences will get a chance to follow their remarkable journey.”

Love Nature’s one-hour special begins with a male osprey making his way from South America to the Long Island Sound in the eastern United States. Having migrated separately from his partner, the pair reunites only to find their nest nearly destroyed by winter storms while they were away. Together, they fend off countless would-be usurpers of their territory and re-build one of the largest nests in the animal kingdom. Their family saga continues with the birth of their chicks, which include a scrawny and weak male, who, through his parents’ devotion and the force of his own will, battles his way to survival and ends up being the first to fly. Alongside the osprey’s dramatic family journey through one summer season, their lives intertwine with the red foxes, bald eagles, cormorants, raccoons and coyotes who occupy their bio-diverse habitat in the center of America’s densest urban corridor.

Osprey: Sea Raptor is a Love Nature and The WNET Group production in association with CosmoVision Media Group, LLC, PBS and CPB for Love Nature. Jacob Steinberg, founder of CosmoVision, serves as Director; and renowned media industry strategist and publisher, Peter Hamilton, is Executive Producer. James Manfull executive produces the special on behalf of Love Nature. Executive Producer for Love Nature is Fred Kaufman; and Series Producer is Bill Murphy. The special is distributed by Blue Ant International.
