Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) congratulates the producers, casts and crews of Blackstone, Anash and the Legacy of the Sun-Rock and The Hook Up for their success at the recent 2011 Alberta Film & Television (Rosie) Awards.
Leading the pack with nominations in nine categories, APTN’s hit dramatic series Blackstone (Prairie Dog Film & Television) was recognized with three Rosie awards including:
• BEST PRODUCTION REFLECTING CULTURAL DIVERSITY
Blackstone – “Suffer the Children”
• BEST ALBERTA ACTRESS – Roseanne Supernault
Blackstone – “White Bread Red Class”
• BEST SCREENWRITER DRAMA OVER 30 – Ron E. Scott

APTN’s cutting edge children’s series, Anash and the Legacy of the Sun-Rock (Panacea Entertainment) meanwhile, led the nominations for individual productions with 10 in total and received two awards, including:
• BEST CHILDREN’S PROGRAM OR SERIES
Anash and the Legacy of the Sun-Rock, Cycle II
• BEST NARRATOR – Gord Marriott
Anash and the Legacy of the Sun-Rock, Cycle II – “Death and Peace”
Not to be outdone, the network’s new lifestyle series, The Hook Up (Joe Media Group & Jet Music) picked up its first Rosie in the category of BEST LIGHT INFO OR LIFESTYLE SERIES.
APTN programs also receiving nominations for this year’s awards included Fish Out of Water (Joe Media Group), Caution: May Contain Nuts Season II (Mosaic Entertainment), and Raven Tales Season IV (New Machine Studios).
The 37th annual Rosie awards were presented at a sold-out gala, held Saturday, May 28th at the Marriott at River Cree Resort, Edmonton, Alberta. The Rosie awards celebrate excellence and outstanding achievement in Albertan film, television and new media.
