MADE | NOUS Encourages Us To Discover Canada’s Content for Canadian Screen Week

Every year, at the end of March, Canadians gather to celebrate the Canadian Academy’s Canadian Screen Week. While this year’s events have been rightfully postponed in response to the COVID-19 crisis, the MADE | NOUS movement is calling on all Canadians to come together—while being apart—to celebrate our on-and off-screen artists from the safety of our homes.

Now more than ever, it’s important to heed the advice of governments and public health experts. Staying home, practicing social distancing, and taking care of ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities, is the most important thing we can do.

“We may not be able to gather in person and celebrate the achievements of Canada’s creators, storytellers and artists, but know their outstanding creativity places them with the best in the world,” says Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, The Canada Media Fund (CMF). “Despite the challenging circumstances we’re living today, we can still engage with and celebrate their stories that entertain us, inspire us and enrich our collective imagination. There are thousands of TV series, films or video games on a variety of platforms for Canadians to enjoy while we are practicing social distancing. Let’s use what would have been Canadian Screen Week as an opportunity to discover, enjoy and share the exceptional stories made right here in Canada by so many talented artists and creators who call our country home,” adds Creighton.

It has been one year since 30+ industry organizations teamed up to celebrate the creative talent Canadians bring to world audiences. The MADE | NOUS campaign is a celebration of the talented individuals both in front of and behind the camera. In light of these unprecedented times, MADE | NOUS has gathered a list of some streaming platforms currently offering Canadian content.

MADE | NOUS encourages Canadians to take advantage of their time at home by exploring the many shows and films nominated for a Canadian Screen Award via the Academy’s Where to Watch List, and by discovering, enjoying and sharing Canada’s creative content.
