Seven medals will be on the line on Tuesday, Day 11 of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, including Women’s Short-Track Speed Skating 3,000m Relay; Men’s 10,000m Speed Skating; Women’s Alpine Skiing Giant Slalom; Men’s Nordic Combined Individual Large Hill, Men’s Freestyle Skiing Ski Halfpipe, Men’s 15KM Mass Star Biathlon (rescheduled from Monday), and Men’s Snowboard Cross (rescheduled from Monday). Additionally, the Men’s hockey tournament kicks in to high gear with qualification for the playoffs while the curling competitions hurry hard to the final playoff rounds.

Norway will go up against Great Britain to see who will advance on to play Sweden in the Semi-Finals.

NORDIC COMBINED: MEN’S INDIVIDUAL 10KM FINAL (7 – 7:45 a.m. ET) on Sportsnet
Defending Nordic Combined Olympic champion, Bill Demong of the U.S. is a medal favourite along with Eric Frenzel of Germany won the 2013 Nordic Combined Title. Bernhard Gruber of Austria and Jason Lamy-Chappuis of France should also be medal contenders.
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: RUSSIA VS. NORWAY, QUALIFICATION PLAYOFF (7:30 – 10 a.m. ET) on CBC
Russia will face-off against Norway, as the remaining eight teams attempt to make it through to the quarter finals.
SPEED SKATING: MEN’S 10,000M FINAL (8:00-11 a.m. ET) on TSN
This event has been contested at the World Championship since 1996 and the Netherlands have never failed to produce a winner. Dutch skater Sven Kramer is a three-time World Champion but was disqualified at Vancovuer 2010 after skating into the wrong lane.
FREESTYLE SKIING: MEN’S SKI HALFPIPE QUALIFICATION (8:30 – 10:25 a.m. ET) on Sportsnet
Canada is expected to compete for a medal in this event with Mike Riddle and Justin Dorey leading the way. The American skiers should put up a tough challenge with David Wise and Torin Yater Wallace who came first and second, respectively, at the 2013 World Championship. France’s Thomas Krief is also a medal threat.

BOBSLEIGH: WOMEN’S RUNS 1 AND 2 (10 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. ET) on TSN

The Canadian team of Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse are defending Olympic Champions and will be looking to be the first to repeat as Olympic Champions. Jenny Ciochetti will pilot Canada 2. Elana Meyers of the USA and Sandra Kiriasis of Germany are expected to pose the biggest challenge to Humphries.
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: CZECH REPUBLIC VS. SLOVAKIA, QUALIFICATION PLAYOFF (12 – 2:30 p.m. ET) on CBC
Czech Republic and Slovakia will go head to head for a chance to appear in the Quarter Finals.

The top 16 athletes after two runs will advance to the final in this event. On the women’s side, Isabella Labock and Amelie Kober of Germany and Austria’s Julia Dujmovits are considered favourites. Caroline Calvé, Arianne Lavigne and Marianne Leeson are expected to represent Canada. On the men’s side of the competition, Canada’s Jasey-Jay Anderson is the defending Olympic Champion and is expected to be joined by Michael Lambert and Matthew Morison. Benjamin Karl of Austria and Vic Wild, representing Russia, should also pose threats to reach the podium.
ALPINE SKIING: MEN’S GIANT SLALOM FIRST RUN (2 – 4 a.m. ET) on CBC
The USA’s Ted Ligety, the defending World Champion and a four-time World Cup Champion, is expected to move on to the final and compete for a medal. Other skiers to watch should include Marcel Hirscher of Austria and Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal.

On the women’s side, Perianne Jones and Daria Gaiazova will represent Canada however the teams from Sweden and the USA are projected as the ones to beat.
