3.4 Million Canadians Tuned in To Cheer on Team Canada Women’s Soccer in The Quarterfinal, Making It Canada’s Most-Watched Moment Of Paris 2024 To Date

The second weekend of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 offered nonstop action from the field and pool, with audiences across the country tuning in on Saturday to cheer on Team Canada women’s soccer in their quarterfinal match against Germany. The peak minute came at the end of the game at 3:45 p.m. ET, reaching 3.4 million viewers across CBC, Radio-Canada and RDS and making it Canada’s most-watched moment of Paris 2024 to date. During the first ten days of the Games, CBC has been the most-watched English network in Canada among both 2+ and 25-54 audiences, in both daytime and primetime, with digital consumption up 74 percent over Tokyo 2020 and 106 percent over Beijing 2022.

Paris 2024 Audience Highlights on CBC to Date 

  • CBC delivered the highest all-day audience share of any English-language network in Canada for the first ten days of Paris 2024, among both audiences 2+ and audiences 25-54.
  • Overall, Canadians have consumed more than 18 million hours of Paris 2024 content on CBC’s digital and streaming platforms to date, an increase of 74% over Tokyo 2020 and 106% over Beijing 2022.
  • To date, time spent streaming Olympic content on CBC Gem is up 268% from the same period in Tokyo 2020 and up 184% from Beijing 2022.

The Top 10 Most-Watched Paris 2024 Moments on CBC to Date

  1. Overall, 3.4 million viewers tuned in for the end of Team Canada women’s soccer quarterfinal match against Germany on CBC, Radio-Canada and RDS, making it Canada’s most-watched moment of Paris 2024 to date. This was also the most-watched moment on CBC to date, with 2.53 million viewers watching the end of the match on CBC. (Day 8 – Saturday, August 3 at 3:45 pm ET)
