CBC Canada Day Concert Details

Celebrate Canada’s 146th birthday with CBC and Radio-Canada on Monday, July 1, live from Parliament Hill, featuring performances from some of the nation’s most talented musical acts, including pop star Carly Rae Jepsen, indie rockers Metric, country superstar Terri Clark, Radio Radio, Marie-Mai and a special performance by Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Astronaut Chris Hadfield.

Beginning live at 11:30 a.m. ET on CBC-TVCBC News Network and online at http://www.cbc.ca/canadacelebrates (12 p.m. ET on Radio-Canada, RDI and Radio-Canada.ca),  host Evan Solomon (Power & PoliticsThe House) is live from Parliament Hill along with Anne-Marie Mediwake and Rosemary Barton.  Céline Galipeau and Emmanuelle Latraverse will co-host the show on Radio-Canada and RDI. Heather Hiscox joins the celebration from London, England with special coverage of the Canada Day International festivities taking place in Trafalgar Square.

Included in the noon show will be speeches by Governor General, David Johnston, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, James Moore.  The show will also include a spectacular flyby of CF-18 fighter jets and the Snowbirds Demonstration Team.  

The concert will be hosted by award-winning soprano Measha Bruggergosman with special guest Hélène Campbell who championed organ donation on social media as she underwent a double-lung transplant in 2012. Musical performances will include Carly Rae Jepsen, Marie-Mai, Metric, and Terri Clark, Karim Ouellet, Jennifer Gillis and a special acoustic performance by CSA Astronaut Chris Hadfield, the first Canadian Commander of the International Space Station.

There will also be a special national one hour Radio show on Radio-Canada Première Chaîne at 12:10 p.m. aired from Ottawa, hosted by Daniel Mathieu.

Beginning at 9 p.m. (11 AT/11:30 NT)  on CBC TV and Radio-Canada, host Anne-Marie Withenshaw (ARTV) showcases exciting musical performances by Carly Rae Jepsen, Sylvain Cossette, Metric, Terri Clark, Radio Radio, Lucie Idlout, Karim Ouellet plus an exclusive performance of the song I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing) by CSA Astronaut Chris Hadfield and Ed Robertson (Barenaked Ladies) backed by a “virtual choir” composed of members of school and community choirs from Halifax, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.George Stroumboulopoulos will also make a special appearance from the Canada Day International celebrations taking place in Trafalgar Square in London, England.

 The concert will be broadcast in its entirety live on CBC Radio 2 and CBCMusic.ca with host Tom Power (Radio 2 Morning) beginning at 8 p.m. ET and online at CBC.ca/canadacelebratesEspace musique will broadcast the concert at 10 p.m. ET.

CANADA DAY INTERNATIONAL – Live stream of  the Canada Day International concert from Trafalgar Square in London, UK  featuring performances by The Tragically Hip, The Sheepdogs, Arkells, Jann Arden and Northern Cree on CBC.ca/canadacelebrates  and hosted by CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos starting at 1:30 p.m. ET.
