CBC News’ MARKETPLACE Investigates Group-Buying, Daily Deals Websites in the Revealing Season Finale, WHAT’S THE DEAL?

Canadians across the country are on the hunt, scouring online group-buying, daily deal websites in search of incredible prices on everything from shopping and dining to attractions and services. But what happens when the website promising the best deal doesn’t keep its end of the bargain? On the season finale of MARKETPLACETom Harrington investigates Canada’s largest group-buying, daily deals website, Dealfind, and reveals a questionable business model that’s left a trail of unhappy shoppers.  Listening to interviews from disgruntled customers, using hidden cameras and going straight to the source, Harrington uncovers whether Canadians are getting what they paid for or being duped by a promise of a deal that’s too good to be true.CBC News’ MARKETPLACE season finale, What’s The Deal?, airs Friday, April 12 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC-TV.
