Leading up to and throughout the 16-day competition, exciting new content will be released daily across CBC’s multiple platforms, including TV, web, mobile apps and social media, offering audiences more ways to engage with the Olympic Games than ever before. CBC’s live primetime coverage of preliminary competitions continues tonight at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT) as Canada’s Women’s Softball team goes to bat against Team USA.

CBC continues to get into the Olympic Games spirit with the premiere of UP IN THE AIR debuting tomorrow, Thursday, July 22 at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT). Produced by CBC Sports’ Brenda Irving, this hour-long documentary follows members of Canada’s Women’s Gymnastics team on their journey to compete in Tokyo, providing a rare behind-the-scenes look at the struggles and triumphs of Canadian gymnasts. Featuring: Ellie Black, Brooklyn Moors, Shallon Olsen, Ana Padurariu, Ava Stewart, Rose Woo and Victoria Woo.

New Digital Series

CBC Olympics is keeping audiences up-to-date on the latest news from Tokyo with three brand new digital series available on all of its social and digital platforms including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, cbc.ca/tokyo2020, CBC Gem and the CBC Olympics app for iOS and Android devices. In addition to the news shows, CBC Sports’ popular weekly series THE BREAKDOWN, NORTH COURTS and BRING IT IN WITH MORGAN CAMPBELL will continue to air throughout the Games.

Streaming live daily at 6 p.m. ET, THE EXTRA HOUR makes up the “extra hour” of CBC Olympics’ round the clock coverage, bringing the total from 23 to 24 hours a day. This variety-style show features athlete interviews, analysis and more as host Brendan Dunlop looks back on the day that was, and previews what’s to come. For those who prefer to get some shut eye, WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING is the perfect way to wake up and start the day without missing out on any of the major storylines from Tokyo. From medal moments to exciting events, host Jacqueline Doorey recaps everything of importance to Canadians that happened while they were sleeping. Giving fans a look into the biggest stories on the ground each day, THE WHIPAROUND hosted by Vivek Jacob, checks in with CBC’s analysts, commentators and hosts from around the world offering bite-sized analysis of the largest events, whipping around from CBC headquarters in Toronto, to reporters at the pool, at the track, and wherever the story takes them.

CBC Kids
CBC Kids award-winning Olympic Games website is back at cbckids.ca/tokyo2020, with videos, activities, quizzes, blog posts and fun facts about each sport and the host country Japan. Kids can look forward to playing five brand new Olympics-themed games including surfing, mountain biking, skateboarding, tennis and athletics, and watching the GARY LEARNS video series, where Studio K’s Gary the Unicorn talks to athletes to better understand their sports. Additionally, the popular digital series ACCORDING TO KIDS returns with all-new episodes providing a hilarious look at what real kids think the Olympic Games is all about.
