CBC/Radio-Canada is at The Heart Of CANADA DAY 2019 Celebrations With Live National Broadcasts on July 1

CBC/Radio-Canada is bringing the nation together for a day of celebrations this Canada Day, with news coverage and entertainment programming on CBC, ICI RADIO-CANADA TÉLÉ, ICI ARTV, CBC News Network, ICI RDI, CBC Radio One, ICI RADIO-CANADA PREMIÈRE, CBC Music, ICI MUSIQUE, Radio-Canada.ca and the CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV streaming services.

“As the national broadcaster of Canada Day, we are proud to bring Canadians together on all platforms to share their unique perspectives,” said Catherine Tait, President & CEO, CBC/Radio-Canada. “On July 1, we will showcase Canada’s remarkable diversity and rich abundance of creative talent as we reflect and celebrate in communities across the country.”

CBC NEWS SPECIAL PRESENTATION: CANADA DAY 2019

Hosted by The National’s Rosemary Barton and Andrew Chang, this three-hour CBC News special will air nationwide on CBC, CBC News Network and the CBC Gem streaming service and globally on CBC News’ Facebook and YouTube pages. Reporters Anita Bathe, Erin Collins, Pauline Pemik, Tashauna Reid, Greg Ross, Jay Scotland, and Salima Shivji will join Barton and Chang from across the country to provide updates from community events in Calgary, Charlottetown, Iqaluit, Ottawa and Steveston, BC.

RADIO-CANADA : LA FÊTE DU CANADA 2019 SUR LA COLLINE DU PARLEMENT

Céline Galipeau hosts this special alongside Daniel Thibeault, live from Ottawa. Governor General Julie Payette, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez (Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism), and thousands of people in Ottawa will come together to celebrate Canada’s birthday on Parliament Hill. The ceremony will include performances by Unisong, T. Thomason, Shawnee, Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Karim Ouellet and K’Naan. The special will air live on ICI RADIO-CANADA TÉLÉ and ICI RDI at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET and online via ICI TOU.TVRadio-Canada.ca and Radio-Canada Info mobile app.

Also starting at 11:30 a.m. ET on radio, host Philippe Marcoux covers highlights from the ceremony as part of the live special program on ICI RADIO-CANADA PREMIÈRE.

CBC MUSIC FESTIVAL SPECIAL

Hosted by Raina Douris and Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe, relive the largest, all-Canadian music festival from Toronto’s RBC Echo Beach on CBC and CBC Gem. This year’s special includes performances and interviews from Alvvays, Stars, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Peach Pit and DJ NDN.

CANADA DAY IN THE CAPITAL/LA FÊTE DU CANADA DANS LA CAPITALE

Hosted by Pierre-Yves Lord and Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe, this bilingual Canada Day special, live from Ottawa’s Parliament Hill features fireworks and performances by Brett Kissel, Coeur de Pirate, Crystal Shawanda, Karim Ouellet, K’Naan, Marie Mai, The Strumbellas and William Prince.  The special will broadcast on CBC, ICI RADIO-CANADA TÉLÉ, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, Radio-Canada.ca and the CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV streaming services. It will also be live-streamed worldwide on CBC’s YouTube page and Canadian Heritage’s Facebook and YouTube pages. The radio program will be hosted by Rich Terfry and Florence K on CBC Radio One and CBC Music. The special will rebroadcast on ICI ARTV on July 2 at 8 p.m.

Throughout the day on July 1, ICI MUSIQUE will play exclusively Canadian programming starting at 7 a.m., including a Canada Day classical concert on TOUTE UNE MUSIQUE at 8 p.m. and a recap of the best moments from Canada Day in the capital on L’ÉVEILLEUR DE NUIT starting at 10 p.m. Additionally, ICIMusique.ca will showcase music from 13 Canadian artists that audiences should discover in 2019 from all 13 provinces and territories, as well as a selection of playlists that highlight artists and music from across the country. CBC Music will also be celebrating Canada Day on air with an all-Canadian playlist on MORNINGS with Raina Douris, TEMPO with Julie Nesrallah, SHIFT with Tom Allen and DRIVE with Rich Terfry.
