CBC/Radio-Canada Looks Ahead To The Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022

With the countdown on to the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s Olympic network, today announced highlights of its coverage. The XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 will take place from Friday February 4 to Sunday February 20, 2022 and will feature 7 sports and 109 medal events across 13 competition venues.

“In a time of isolation and disconnection, few events have the power to rally people together like the Olympics. CBC/Radio-Canada is delighted to unite all Canadians in our athletes’ Olympic dreams at the Beijing Winter Olympics.”

Catherine Tait, President and CEO, CBC/Radio-Canada

“As Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic network, CBC/Radio-Canada is proud to bring Canadians unparalleled live and on-demand coverage of their favourite sports and athletes, as they go for gold in Beijing. We’re looking forward to providing sports fans from coast to coast to coast with more award-winning Olympic coverage.”

François Messier, CBC/Radio-Canada’s Chef de Mission, Beijing 2022

CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of Beijing 2022 will be comprehensive, with broadcasts from every venue, including Canadian medal-winning moments, totalling more than 3500 hours of live content across all platforms. In addition, broadcast partners TSN, RDS and Sportsnet will offer live event coverage, providing multiple viewing options.

CBC Sports and Radio-Canada Sports are also the digital homes to Beijing 2022, offering Olympic-themed content year-round. Canadians will be able to stay connected via the CBC Sports and Radio-Canada Sports websites, the CBC Sports and Radio-Canada Sports apps, the free CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV streaming services.

Throughout December and January, CBC Sports will continue to keep Canadians connected to the world of high-performance sport through weekly staple ROAD TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES, available on CBC TV and CBC Gem, as well as live streams of key competitions on cbcsports.ca and the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices.

Starting December 21, Radio-Canada Sports will offer Le rêve olympique, an original series of athletes’ portraits profiling top Canadian Beijing 2022 medal contenders. This eight-part documentary series will be available on ICI TÉLÉ, ICI RDI and ICI TOU.TV.

More details about CBC/Radio-Canada’s extensive Beijing 2022 plans, including coverage of the Paralympic Winter Games, will be announced next month.
