CBC’S Coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for Day 7 (Friday)

Canada will look to add to its medal total on Friday as several athletes and teams will have a shot at the podium. Rosie MacLennan will be defending her gold medal in women’s trampoline while Canada’s men’s and women’s go for gold in the lightweight women’s sculls and men’s four. On the tennis court, Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil will contend for a spot on the podium in men’s doubles following Thursday’s semifinal match.

Canada’s women’s soccer continues its pursuit of gold in the quarter-final round against France, the team Canada defeated to win bronze in 2012. In another match-up of marquee teams, the women’s basketball team takes on the USA in a showdown of two 3-0 squads.

In the pool, Pamela Ware and Jennifer Abel will compete in the preliminary round of women’s 3-metre springboard competition while several swimmers will hope to be a factor in Friday night’s medal races.

Athletics competition also gets underway on Friday with Brianne Theisen-Eaton beginning her quest for a heptathlon medal.
