CBC’S Coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for Day 8 & 9 (Saturday & Sunday)

The competition in Rio continues to heat up as CBC’s coverage of the Olympic Games reaches the halfway point this weekend. Canadian athletes will look to be in the hunt for medals across several events on Saturday and Sunday, including athletics, rowing, diving, swimming, cycling, golf and more.

Among all of the events being contested this weekend, athletics will be in the spotlight as the track and field events continue. Canadian heptathlete Brianne Theisen-Eaton’s quest for gold will continue on Saturday with the final three events of the competition.

Meanwhile, Canada’s Andre De Grasse will be looking to establish his place among the world’s best in the men’s 100m. While De Grasse looks to break into the upper echelon, the biggest name in track – Usain Bolt – will begin his quest to win gold in each of the men’s 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay in three consecutive Olympic Games. The men’s 100m final is scheduled for Sunday night on CBC.

Coverage will be available on TV across CBC, TSN, TSN2, Sportsnet and Sportsnet ONE. Viewers can also watch CBC’s live streaming coverage at cbc.ca/olympics, on CBC’s app for Rio 2016 for iOS and Android devices and in virtual reality using the CBC Olympic Games Virtual Reality app.
