CBC’S Coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for Day 3 (Monday)

Another busy day in Rio on Monday could present another medal opportunity for Canada. The women’s rugby semifinal, gold and bronze medal matches are all scheduled to take place and the Canadian squad hopes to have a shot at the podium after a 2-1 start in pool play.

In rowing, legendary coxswain Lesley Thompson-Willie and the women’s eight will take to the water in the preliminary heats. Thompson-Willie is participating in her eighth Olympic Games, tying her for the most appearances by a female athlete ever. She also has a chance to become Canada’s most decorated summer Olympian ever with a podium finish in Rio.

Other Canadian storylines to watch for on Day 3 will include the women’s basketball team looking to maintain a perfect record in a match-up with Serbia; Sam Schacter and Josh Binstock will look for their first win in beach volleyball; and Brittany MacLean and Sydney Pickrem will be two of the swimmers to watch as the action heats up in the pool.

Coverage will be available on TV across CBC, TSN, TSN2, Sportsnet and Sportsnet ONE. Viewers can also watch CBC’s live streaming coverage at cbc.ca/olympics, on CBC’s app for Rio 2016 for iOS and Android devices and in virtual reality using the CBC Olympic Games Virtual Reality app.
