Buoyed by very strong ratings last season, CBC Television today announced that 14 Canadian favourites will be returning for the 2012-13 season. ARCTIC AIR, the hit show which debuted to the largest audience for a drama in 15 years, will fly high again; MR D. will be back in class for a second season; and established prime time favourites will return to the lineup.
“CBC Television’s commitment to developing entertaining, engaging Canadian programming was rewarded with record ratings last season,” said Christine Wilson, Executive Director, Content Planning for CBC English Services. “Despite financial challenges, the strength of those returning favourites combined with exciting new titles is setting the stage for an outstanding 2012-13 season.”
New programming includes MURDOCH MYSTERIES, produced by Shaftesbury Films; crime drama CRACKED produced by White Pine Pictures; historical drama TITANIC: BLOOD AND STEEL from the De Angelis Group (and the team behind CAMELOT and THE TUDORS) and OVER THE RAINBOW – the live competition search for theatre’s newest Dorothy produced by Temple Street Productions in association with Mirvish Productions.
