Kicking off the New Year in sweeping fashion, the world’s best curlers are set to descend on Yorkton, SK, next week for the Meridian Canadian Open – the fourth event of the 2019-20 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season – from Jan.14-19. Taking over the Gallagher Centre, the Meridian Canadian Open will feature 16 top men’s and 16 elite women’s teams from around the globe competing in the unique triple knockout format. Led by defending champions Team Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) and Team Homan (Ottawa), the Meridian Canadian Open will feature 11-time Grand Slam champion Team Gushue (St. John’s), 2019 World Champions Team Edin (Karlstad, SWE) and Team Tirinzoni (Aarau, SUI), reigning Olympic gold-medallists Team Hasselborg (Sundbyberg, SWE) and nine-time Grand Slam winner Team Jones (Winnipeg).
All participating teams will contend for a combined $300,000 prize purse and a berth into the Humpty’s Champions Cup, the final Grand Slam event of the season. Full broadcast schedule and complete team lists are available online here.
