The road to the Stanley Cup continues on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada

With one game remaining to decide the last of the four teams left to fight for the Stanley Cup, CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA is looking ahead to its coverage of the first two games of the Conference Final round. The winner of Saturday night’s Game 7 between the New York Rangers and the Washington Capitals will face the New Jersey Devils in the Eastern Conference Final, while the Los Angeles Kings take on the Phoenix Coyotes in the Western Conference Final, with berths in the 2012 Stanley Cup Final on the line. Live coverage is available on CBC-TV and streaming online at CBCSports.ca.

“With another Game 7 on the horizon, excitement continues to build from coast to coast with amazing team and player storylines being written each night live on CBC,” said Julie Bristow, CBC’s Executive Director or Studio and Unscripted Programming. “A whole host of homegrown hockey heroes are still in the hunt for the Cup, and the NHL playoffs on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada continues to give fans plenty of reasons to cheer.”

The action gets underway on CBC with Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final on Monday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET where rookie phenom Adam Henrique, veteran netminder Martin Brodeur and the rest of the Devils will either travel to New York to take on Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers, or they’ll play host to another rookie sensation in Braden Holtby, NHL superstar Alex Ovechkin and their Washington Capitals. Jim Hughson provides play-by-play for the series with analyst Craig Simpson joining him in the broadcast booth while Glenn Healy provides additional analysis from between the benches with Elliotte Friedman reporting from rinkside.

CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA also has coverage of all of the potential series-deciding games of the Western Conference Final, beginning with Game 4. This matchup features two of the NHL’s hottest goaltenders in Kingston, ON’s Mike Smith for the Coyotes going head-to-head with the Kings’ Vezina Trophy finalist, Jonathan Quick. Play-by-play for this series will be handled by Bob Cole alongside analyst Garry Galley with Scott Oake providing rinkside reports.
