Wheelchair Basketball Canada and CBC Sports to provide streaming coverage of Ottawa Invitational tournament May 18-21

Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) and CBC Sports will provide live streaming coverage of the Canadian Men’s games at the Ottawa Invitational tournament, presented by Meridian Credit Union, from May 18-20, 2023. Additionally, the final two games on Sunday, May 21, will be streamed for audiences from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

Fans will be able to watch the action, which includes games against the United States and the Netherlands, live from Carleton University Ravens’ Nest on CBC Sports digital platforms, including the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca and the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices, as well as on WBC’s YouTube channel, beginning Thursday, May 18 when Team Canada tips off against the Netherlands at 11 a.m. ET.

The Ottawa Invitational tournament is part of Team Canada’s final preparation for the IWBF World Championships (June 9-20), where Canada will compete in Group B against Thailand, Egypt and Germany.

Viewers will be able to follow the journey of some of Canada’s top Paralympians from the Senior Men’s National Team, including Patrick Anderson (Fergus, Ont.), Nik Goncin (Regina, Sask.), and Bo Hedges (Wonowon, B.C.), among others. The Ottawa Invitational will also be an opportunity for fans to see athletes who will represent Team Canada at both the World Championships and Parapan American Games (Nov. 17-26, 2023).

The Ottawa Invitational tournament will take place at the Carleton University Ravens’ Nest at 9376 University Drive, Ottawa, Ont. Admission is free, and all games are open to the public. Those wishing to attend games can secure their free tickets here.
