Citytv voted out the competition as its smash hit reality series America’s Got Talent won the night on Tuesday, Sept. 13 with 1.6 million viewers (Ind. 2+, national). As the leading performer in prime time, the first part of Citytv’s two-night finale extravaganza outperformed its closest competitor of the night, CBC’s Rick Mercer Report (1.2 million, Ind. 2+, national).
Last night, the final four acts – Team iLuminate, POPLYFE, The Silhouettes and Landau – competed in hopes of winning the $1 million prize and the opportunity to headline a show in Las Vegas. Tonight, in the live, two-hour finale, special guest stars will perform before host Nick Cannon reveals who America has chosen as its favourite act.
Viewers who missed last night’s episode can catch up on Citytv.com or on their iPads by downloading the free Citytv video app on iTunes Canada.
Fans of the Got Talent franchise can also look forward to the launch of Citytv’s new original series, Canada’s Got Talent, coming to the prime time schedule in Spring 2012. Auditions for Canada’s Got Talent kicked off this month in Winnipeg and Edmonton with next stops in Vancouver (Sept. 19-20), Montreal (Sept. 23-24), Toronto (Sept. 27-30) and Halifax (Oct. 11-12).
