City Greenlights Local Original Series, ONLY IN MONTREAL

City and Whalley-Abbey Media today announced the greenlighting of new, local weekly series, Only In Montreal. From the inner-workings of a Montreal food truck to a revealing profile on the city’s top roller derby queen and sampling the latest creations from a gourmet hotdog eatery, Only In Montreal showcases the city’s vibrant happenings, places and people. The series is currently in production and scheduled to debut onCity Montreal this summer. Additional broadcast details to be announced in the coming weeks.

“City is synonymous with exceptional local programming that resonates with Canadians in major cities across Canada,” said Scott Moore, President, Broadcast, Rogers Media. “Building on our solid schedule of local programming on City stations across the country, this new series will reflect the diversity of Montreal’s cultural landscape and explore the people and places that make up the soul of this city.”

Montreal natives Matt Silver, Tamy Emma Pepin, and Dimitrios Koussioulas will host the series, bringing their electric and clever personalities to every episode. Produced by Omar Majeed and Scott Bailey of Montreal’s Whalley-Abbey Media (Chuck’s Day Off, Chuck’s Week Off: Mexico, and All For One with Debbie Travis), Only In Montreal takes viewers into the kitchens of the latest restaurants, feature humourous portraits of famous locals and Montreal-loving celebrities, and informative stories on local hidden gems.

“Montreal is home to world renowned people, cultural sites and culinary trends.  Only In Montreal invites viewers to experience this vibrant city in a fresh and unique way,” said Claire Freeland, Director of Original Programming, Rogers Media.

Matt Silver is a local screenwriter, producer, performer, and founder of the multimedia comedy collective Kidnapper Films. No stranger to the city, Tamy Emma Pepin first conquered the web as brand ambassador for Tourism Montreal, later becoming a regular arts and culture media contributor and formerly the editor of Huffington Post Quebec. Described by locals as Montreal’s Jon Stewart, Dimitrious Koussioulas is well known for his web talk show Park Avenue Tonight, where he is host and creator.

Only in Montreal is the latest locally-produced series to join the City Montreal schedule, following the announcement of Breakfast Television andConnected Montreal earlier this year. City is also home to Cityline, Canada’s longest-running women’s lifestyle daytime series, and award-winning prime time hits 2 Broke Girls, Revolution, Modern Family, and all-new original series Seed and Package Deal, set to premiere May 6.

Only in Montreal is produced by Whalley-Abbey Media and is currently in production in Montreal. From Rogers Media, Claire Freeland is Director of Original Programming, Malcolm Dunlop is Executive Vice-President of Programming and Operations, and Scott Moore is President, Broadcast.
