Citytv’s BREAKFAST TELEVISION Gets Up Early This Fall

Citytv is giving viewers – including early risers – a head start on all the day’s top stories and breaking news now even earlier, with the launch of CityNews at Five and an early start to Canada’s number one morning show brand, Breakfast Television.

Launching September 5 in the Greater Toronto Area, CityNews at Five gives viewers a first look at the most important news of the day – before dinner even hits the table. With triple-threat veteran news anchors Tom Hayes, Francis D’Souza and Avery Haines at the helm, CityNews at Five becomes the GTA’s new weekday destination for local news first. Out on the streets and in the community five days a week, CityNews at Five is everywhere – bringing viewers a full hour of in-depth coverage on local news stories that matter most with all of your favourite local reporters and traffic and weather specialists, leading in to Citytv’s popular supper-hour newscast CityNews at Six.

In addition, Breakfast Television gets an early start to the day, hitting the airwaves 30 minutes earlier, beginning at 5:30am as of September 6 in all markets across the country. Just in time for the first day of school, the 5:30am Breakfast Television wake-up call will feature viewers’ favourite hosts, anchors, reporters and weather specialists, who will all be on hand to greet viewers as they roll out of bed and get a jump on the day.

“Citytv proves once again we are everywhere, bringing viewers the news that matters most first, in both the morning and evening” said Tina Cortese, General Manager Citytv Toronto, Vice-President CityNews. “With an unbeatable combination of award-winning anchors and Toronto’s favourite morning show personalities, Citytv demonstrates our commitment to local news with even more in-depth coverage of news and information to better serve our viewers.”

CityNews continues to keep viewers connected on-air and online at CityNews.ca, Toronto’s choice for all the latest breaking news, weather, traffic and sports information. Keeping plugged in has never been easier with the CityNews app for iPhone and iPad.

From inside the studio to the streets in local communities, Breakfast Television offers a refreshing look at the day ahead — combining the latest in local news, weather and traffic with the biggest celebrity interviews, lifestyle trends, local community events, and big ticket giveaways. Prepare for the unexpected as the BT gang keeps audiences engaged with continuous unpredictable fun! Plus, viewers can stay connected all day with BT’s video blogs, and frequent Twitter and Facebook updates.
