The secret’s out! Fan-favourite series Secret Millionaire returns to Citytv this summer beginning Sunday June 3 at 8pm ET/PT. Narrated by actor Blair Underwood (The Event), the inspiring series follows 13 of America’s most successful businessmen and women as they spend a week in the nation’s communities in need, using their own personal wealth to help change the lives some of the most undervalued and hard-working citizens.
Based on the hit U.K. series of the same name, each episode of Secret Millionaire follows one of America’s most successful people as they leave behind their lavish lifestyle to go undercover to live and volunteer in some of their country’s most impoverished neighbourhoods. Living on welfare wages, the ‘Secret Millionaires’ will attempt to remain undiscovered as they volunteer next to incredible people who are making a difference in their community. Then, in an emotional and dramatic climax, on the final day of their challenge they reveal their true identities and donate a part of their fortune to the extraordinary people they have met.
In the season premiere episode: “Scott and Alexa Jacobs: Newark”, millionaire and world-renowned artist Scott Jacobs and his 18 year-old daughter, Alexa, trade their riches for rags, leaving their San Diego home for Newark. While there, they spend six days attempting to survive on less than $75 while volunteering their time to worthy charitable organizations. Some secrets are too good to be true – and in the end, they reveal their true identities and reward members of the community for their service to others.
Scott Jacobs’ flair for the creative began in high school, and at the age of 19 he became one of the youngest art gallery owners in the country. Years later, at an art show in New York, Jacobs’ paintings featuring motorcycles drew the attention of Harley-Davidson, and he soon became their first-ever, officially-licensed artist. Jacobs’ art now hangs in museums, galleries and private collections in more than 60 countries.
