The Canada’s Got Talent Stage is Set for the Live Finals and Results, May 13 and 14

– Top 12 finalists perform for viewers’ votes one last time in the special, two-hour Live Finals, Sunday, May 13 at 8 p.m. –

– Winning act is crowned in Live Finals Results, Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m. –

After 11 weeks of talent, sweat and tears on the Canada’s Got Talent stage, who will be named the most talented act in the country? Down from 39 acts in the semifinals, the Top 12 finalists will put their dreams on the line one last time to perform in the hopes of earning the most votes from viewers and becoming Canada’s Most Talented Act. The special, two-hour Canada’s Got Talent Live Finals airs Sunday, May 13 at 8 p.m. local time, followed by the one-hour reveal in the Live Finals Results on Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m. local time on Citytv.

On the heels of Monday night’s last semifinal round, Canada’s Got Talent digital correspondent Graeme O’Neil sat down with Martin Short, Measha Brueggergosman and Stephan Moccio for the “Judges’ Preview” – a candid chat on what they think of the talent so far and what they expect to see in the Live Finals. The diverse Top 12 finalists competing for viewers’ votes during the talent-packed, two-hour Live Finals range in age from 11 to 45, span the country from Moncton, NB to Vancouver and are diversified in their disciplines – from dancing and singing to beatboxing and circus performing.  The acts are as follows:

  • ·         EMILIO FINA, 38 (Opera Singer), from Petersburg, ON
  • ·         FRESHH (Seven-member Dance Group), ages: 13-17, from Vancouver
  • ·         IVAN DAIGLE, 41 (Solo Singer), from Petitcodiac, N.B.
  • ·         JULIE LAFONTAINE, 45 (Opera Singer), from Montreal
  • ·         KRNFX a.k.a. TERRY IM, 22 (Beatboxer), from Toronto
  • ·         SAGKEENG’S FINEST (Three-member Traditional Dance Group), ages: 16-17, from Sagkeeng First Nation, Fort Alexander, MB
  • ·         SCOTT JACKSON, 24 (Beatboxer), from Toronto
  • ·         SHALE WAGMAN, 11 (Solo Dancer), from Toronto
  • ·         THE EMSEE a.k.a MATHEW CATHCART, 21 (Rapper), from Hamilton, ON

Monday night’s Live Finals Results will also feature performances by Canadian chart-toppers Hedley, performing the fan-favourite “Beautiful” from their new albumStorms, and 12-year-old classical soprano prodigy and America’s Got Talent 2010 finalist, Jackie Evancho, singing her rendition of “Angel,” by Canadian songstress Sarah McLachlan. Then, famed celebrity interviewer Jiminy Glick (Martin Short), will make a special appearance, talking to host Dina Pugliese about the judges and Top 12 competitors vying for the title.

Immediately following Monday night’s television broadcast, tune in to the special, live, aftershow celebration on CanadasGotTalent.com, as the winning act is presented with a cheque for $100,000, tickets for an all-inclusive trip to the island of Tobago, and the keys to a brand new Nissan GT-R, valued at more than $100,000. In addition to these prizes, the winning act will also receive a spot in the Live Citytv’s New Year’s Bash, and a chance to perform in a Las Vegas show.

Plus, during the Live Finals and Live Finals Results, fans can share in the excitement and cheer on their favourite acts at the exclusive Tim Hortons Block Party at Showline Studios. Hosted by CityNews’ entertainment reporter Mary Kitchen (May 13) and CityNews reporter Sangita Patel (May 14), the party will feature food, entertainment and surprises – everything from stilt-walkers to face painters – as the one-stop shop for Canada’s Got Talent’s biggest fans to celebrate the results together.
