The 2014 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS® Hits a High Note on CTV as the #1 Program Sunday and Most-Watched AMAs in Three Years

Canadians rocked out last night as the 2014 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS® kicked off Awards season on CTV with 1.8 million viewers.  Ranking as the #1 program Sunday with total viewers the broadcast had a reach of 7.6 million viewers who watched some part of the program. The live show was up an impressive 17% with total viewers over last year, and was also up in all key demos (A18-49 +17%, A18-34 +13% and A25-54 +9%) making the 2014 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS® the most- watched in three years.

The 2014 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS bested top primetime programs on competing networks, leading Global’s MADAM SECRETARY (1.20 million) by 49%, CBC’s CANADA’s SMARTEST PERSON (634,000) by 181%, and delivered four times the audience of City’s NHL HOMETOWN HOCKEY (436,000, Montreal vs. New York).

 

In the key markets of Toronto and Montreal, the 2014 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS® led the night among total viewers and the key adult demo A25-54.

 

The big winners of the night were Katy Perry, who took home three trophies to lead the pop field, One Direction, who also scored three AMAs, while Iggy Azalea and Beyoncé each won in two categories.
