3.5 Million Viewers Watch the 96th OSCARS® on CTV

From big Canadian Kenergy to Oppenheimer‘s Best Picture win and all the moments in between, the 96th OSCARS® garnered an average audience of 3.5 million viewers on CTV Sunday night, becoming the most-watched English entertainment broadcast of the year, preliminary data from Numeris confirms. CTV was also home to the Top 3 programs of the day in Canada on Sunday with the 96th OSCARS®, COUNTDOWN TO THE OSCARS®, and ETALK AFTER THE OSCARS®.

Ratings Overview:

  • With consecutive audience growth over the last three years, the OSCARS® saw a 4% increase with total viewers over last year’s broadcast, and also experienced double-digit growth in the key A25-54 demographic, up 12%
  • The 96th OSCARS® delivered a 50% share for English Canada, with one in two English-language Canadians who were watching TV on Sunday tuning into the broadcast
  • The audience peaked with 4.5 million viewers at 10:19 p.m. ET, leading into the award for Best Picture, as Oppenheimer took home the night’s top honours
  • COUNTDOWN TO THE OSCARS® was watched by 1.5 million viewers, and was up 39% over last year in the key A25-54 demo
  • ETALK‘s inaugural live show ETALK AFTER THE OSCARS®, which discussed all the major moments of the night, was the highest-rated ETALK episode in five years, with 1.1 million viewers

ETALK revealed even more from Hollywood’s biggest night with a special one-hour episode last night on CTV. Anchored from the Hollywood Hills, and hosted by Tyrone Edwards, Lainey Lui, and Traci Melchor, the episode includes exclusive interviews and red carpet highlights, plus updates from the official OSCARS® after party, the Governors Ball, and the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, and is available on demand on CTV.ca and the CTV app. Viewers can also head to Etalk.ca and follow @etalkctv on social media for extended interviews, full fashion breakdowns, and behind-the-scenes coverage.

In addition to ETALK‘s extensive coverage, CTV.ca also features highlights from ETALK and the 96th OSCARS® broadcast, including awards and speeches, memorable moments, and the red carpet.
