From big Canadian Kenergy to Oppenheimer‘s Best Picture win and all the moments in between, the 96th OSCARS® garnered an average audience of 3.5 million viewers on CTV Sunday night, becoming the most-watched English entertainment broadcast of the year, preliminary data from Numeris confirms. CTV was also home to the Top 3 programs of the day in Canada on Sunday with the 96th OSCARS®, COUNTDOWN TO THE OSCARS®, and ETALK AFTER THE OSCARS®.
Ratings Overview:
- With consecutive audience growth over the last three years, the OSCARS® saw a 4% increase with total viewers over last year’s broadcast, and also experienced double-digit growth in the key A25-54 demographic, up 12%
- The 96th OSCARS® delivered a 50% share for English Canada, with one in two English-language Canadians who were watching TV on Sunday tuning into the broadcast
- The audience peaked with 4.5 million viewers at 10:19 p.m. ET, leading into the award for Best Picture, as Oppenheimer took home the night’s top honours
- COUNTDOWN TO THE OSCARS® was watched by 1.5 million viewers, and was up 39% over last year in the key A25-54 demo
- ETALK‘s inaugural live show ETALK AFTER THE OSCARS®, which discussed all the major moments of the night, was the highest-rated ETALK episode in five years, with 1.1 million viewers
