CTV Acquires HOT IN CLEVELAND, Premiering July 5

Betty White mania hits Canada! CTV announced today it has landed the most-talked about comedy series of the summer, HOT IN CLEVELAND. Acquired from Endemol Worldwide Distribution to air exclusively in Canada on CTV and The Comedy Network, the half-hour series joins CTV’s hot Monday night comedy block, airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET beginning July 5 on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Also starring veteran actors Valerie Bertinelli (TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL), Jane Leeves (FRASIER) and Wendie Malick (JUST SHOOT ME), the series follows three ladies who discover a new “promised land” after their plane makes an unexpected landing in Cleveland. HOT IN CLEVELAND also airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT beginning July 9 on The Comedy Network. Following their CTV/The Comedy Network broadcasts, episodes are available on demand on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca and thecomedynetwork.ca.

HOT IN CLEVELAND got off to a sizzling start when it premiered last week on TV Land in the US. Attracting 4.75 million viewers, the critically-acclaimed debut was the most-watched telecast in the network’s history.

The 10-part series revolves around three fabulous best friends from LA – novelist Melanie Moretti (Bertinelli), eye-brow archer to the stars Joy Scroggs (Leeves) and former soap star Victoria Chase (Malick) – who find their lives changed forever when their plane, headed for Paris, makes an unexpected landing in Cleveland.

When the friends discover that their personal currency has risen and that they are actually “hot” in Cleveland, they decide to stay. Starting over, they rent a house that happens to come with a very feisty caretaker, Elka Ostrovsky (White).

In the series premiere (Monday, July 5 at 8 p.m. ET), Melanie, Joy and Victoria decide to stick around in Cleveland and rent a house with an elderly caretaker Elka Ostrovsky.

In Episode 2 (Monday, July 12 at 8 p.m. ET, Joy’s fling with a younger man dredges up a secret from her past; Melanie coaxes Elka to dive back into the dating pool; and Victoria’s new shopping habits come with fringe benefits.

HOT IN CLEVELAND is executive produced by Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes (WILL AND GRACE) and Todd Milliner (EIGHT DAYS A WEEK) of Hazy Mills Productions and is helmed by Emmy Award-winning Suzanne Martin (FRASIER, ELLEN) serving as executive producer, show runner and writer.
