CTV Announces Broadcast Details for CTV Presents: WE DAY 2010, Premiering Oct. 30 on CTV

CTV announced today the broadcast date for WE DAY. The largest youth-empowerment event of its kind, the two events in Toronto (Sept. 30) and Vancouver (Oct. 15) are being taped for broadcast as a prime-time two-hour special. CTV PRESENTS: WE DAY 2010 premieres Saturday, October 30 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca for local broadcast times). Both events will also be streamed live at www.weday.ctv.ca, including tomorrow’s gathering at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre.

“Attending We Day is about being inspired by Canada’s youngest game-changers,” said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. “No other event brings together students, teachers, artists, leaders and citizens of the world in such a magical way. We’re enormously proud to share it with a national television audience.”

Hosted by CTV’s Ben Mulroney with Free The Children’s Craig Kielburger, the two-hour broadcast will feature some of the world’s top social issues speakers and entertainers including: Al Gore, Alexandre Bilodeau, Barenaked Ladies, Betty Williams, Cherie Blair, Craig & Marc Kielburger, Colbie Caillat, Deepak Chopra, cast members from DEGRASSI, Down With Webster, Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, Ethan Zohn, Greyson Chance, Hedley, Jacob Hoggard, K’naan, Martin Sheen, Michel Chikwanine, Philippe Cousteau, Reverend Jesse L. Jackson Sr., Rick Hansen, Robin Wiszowaty, Rocky Dawuni, Scott Hammell, Spencer West, and the cast of MTV’s hit TV series, THE BURIED LIFE.

Celebrating North America’s young leaders’ commitments to global and local change and the cultivation of youth empowerment, We Day brings together 38,000 student leaders from nearly 2,000 schools across three cities, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. CTV has partnered with Free The Children on We Day since its inception in 2006.

Students and educators leave We Day with a renewed passion to create change for a better world and the tools to make this change a reality. In the months following the event, students participate in a unique year-long program – We Schools in Action – in the classroom and their communities that puts them at the forefront of active global citizenship and youth leadership.

We Day is a Free The Children initiative. The event is made possible at no cost to students and schools through the sponsorship and support of numerous companies and organizations. National Bank Financial Group and OMERS Worldwide are the co-title sponsors of We Day.
