CTV’s EMMYS® Broadcast Is Golden with 2.6 Million Viewers

And we’re off! The fall television season began with a bang last sunday when 2.6 million viewers watched the 63rd PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS on CTV. The EMMYS® was the #1 program of the night with total viewers and in all key adult demos, pulling in strong key adult demo ratings of 8.0 to 8.6 in Toronto, Canada’s largest television market. The live awards broadcast peaked with 3.3 million viewers at 8:47 p.m. ET as Melissa McCarthy accepted the “Crown” for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy series, for CTV Two’s MIKE & MOLLY. Overall, nearly 8.2 million Canadians tuned into some or all of the broadcast on CTV.

Last sunday’s EMMYS® ratings win kicks off CTV and CTV Two’s exciting fall lineup of big-buzz new shows and returning favourites. The evening’s festivities kicked off with more than one million viewers catching the COUNTDOWN TO THE EMMYS® pre-show from 7-8 p.m. ET on CTV, hosted by Steve Jones of THE X FACTOR, which premieres later this week on CTV and CTV Two.

Among this year’s EMMY® winners were first-time winner Melissa McCarthy of CTV Two’s MIKE & MOLLY for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Jim Parsons of THE BIG BANG THEORY with his second EMMY award win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and CTV’s THE AMAZING RACE for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

For more coverage of the 63rd PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS tune in to tonight’s ETALK at 7 p.m. ET on CTV for interviews from ETALK’s position on the red carpet and its Canadian exclusive backstage one-on-one room, where L.A. correspondent Jessi Cruickshank interviews many of the night’s top winners, including THE BIG BANG THEORY’s Jim Parsons, MIKE & MOLLY’s Melissa McCarthy and MODERN FAMILY’s Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell. For moreEMMYS® action, don’t miss Cruickshank’s coverage from the HBO after-party with the TV world’s most glamorous stars.
