The CTV schedule is full of new beginnings and eventful endings this month as August is bustling with season premieres and finales. Kicking off new seasons are SHAQ VS and home-grown hits FLASHPOINT and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA. Wrapping up for the Summer are SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, MASTERCHEF, SCOUNDRELS and LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. The excitement continues with appearances by A-list stars on HOT IN CLEVELAND and hysterical new episodes of COMEDY NOW! and COMEDY INC.

A government official blackmails two doctors for overcharging patients before he is killed. The doctors have another secret to protect, however, and worry that someone will find out mobsters financed their practice.

Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) throws a party, during which she makes the wrong impression on one of her neighbours. Meanwhile, Victoria (Wendie Malick) is hired to do a Japanese commercial for a questionable product, and Elka (Betty White) makes a colourful change to impress her senior prom date, Max. Carl Reiner (THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW) returns as a guest star, along with Wayne Knight (SEINFELD).
9 p.m. – TWO AND A HALF MEN – “Laxative Tester, Horse Inseminator” – NEW TO CTV
Alan (Jon Cryer) takes a job working for Evelyn (Holland Taylor), and Charlie (Charlie Sheen) is forced to mend Chelsea (Jennifer Taylor) and Jake’s (Angus T. Jones) rocky relationship.

8 p.m. – SHAQ VS – “Shaq Vs Dale Earnhardt Jr.” – SEASON PREMIERE
Four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal races head to head at Concord Speedway in North Carolina against Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR’s most popular driver and recent winner of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway. In this episode he also travels to the nation’s capital to take on the Scripps National Spelling Bee champion, 15-year old Kavya Shivashankar, and enlists the help of this year’s finalists.
9 p.m. – MASTERCHEF – “Auditions 2” – NEW EPISODE
The remaining home cooks endure an intense grilling as they pour their hearts into their signature dishes to convince the judges they can take the culinary world by storm.

10 p.m. – FLASHPOINT – “Severed Ties” – SEASON PREMIERE
Maggie Perrello (Kelly Rowan, THE O.C.) was the perfect mother until her addiction to prescription meds spiraled out of control. It cost Maggie a stint in jail, and the loss of her beloved daughters into foster care. Now she’s out of jail, clean and sober, and yearns to bring her children home. When Maggie discovers that she can’t have her kids back, she turns desperate and kidnaps the girls. Team One answers the call. Mass’ thought-provoking comedy speaks to the human condition, leaving audiences in deep thought about themselves and each other. Mass has performed on CBC Radio’s “The Debaters” and on the stages of Yuk Yuk’s.

In this episode, Shaq takes on professional boxer Sugar Shane Mosley in an exhibition match at the legendary Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Also stepping up to the plate are illusionists Penn and Teller who are challenged to defy the odds at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.
9 p.m. – MASTERCHEF – “Top 14 Revealed” – NEW EPISODE
Only half of the contestants will remain by the end of tonight’s episode as the home cooks prove to the judges that they have mastered basic kitchen techniques. Find out whose skills are sharp enough to avoid elimination and who cracks under pressure.

The Top 3 dancers perform live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood for the first part of the two-night season finale. Friday, August 13
10 p.m. – FLASHPOINT – “Follow the Leader” – NEW EPISODE
Team One launches a high-stakes raid on a white supremacist compound after a former insider, Danny Butler (Brendan Penny, WHISTLER), alerts them to an imminent attack. The team shuts down the militant camp but nearly loses one of its own in the battle. When the dust settles, the team discovers that the group’s leader Victor (Adrian Hough, JPOD), escaped with Danny’s brother Trent (Tyler Johnston, LESS THAN KIND) and another accomplice – and they’re all carrying concealed bombs. Parker (Enrico Colantoni) must enlist Danny’s help in a race against time to stop the bombers and save hundreds of innocent lives.

Ivan Decker is one of Canada’s most promising young comedians. Decker has made a name for himself in Vancouver, where he won a city-wide contest to perform at Just for Laughs’ Homegrown Comedy Competition. Decker’s style of comedy appeals to any audience, from rural towns to city centers. His people-pleasing attitude translates from his personality to stage performance. In fact, Decker purposely avoids the use of profanity, sexual or drug-related material so that he can please everyone from mother to child.

9 p.m. – SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA – TWO-HOUR SEASON PREMIERE
Summer’s hottest Canadian dance series is back! Hosted by Leah Miller, the Gemini Award-winning SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA returns and is cranking up the heat for Season 3, beginning with the Toronto auditions. Weighing in on whether or not Canada’s dancers have what it takes are judges Jean Marc Genereux (ballroom champion and guest judge/choreographer on the U.S. version of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE), Tré Armstrong (How She Move), Luther Brown (urban choreographer/Sean Combs) and guest judge Mary Murphy from the U.S. version of the hit series. Judge and choreographer Blake McGrath also returns to put the dancers through the paces during the feared Blake’s Boot Camp.
