Do It Yourself or Leave It To The Pros? From home and car repairs to grooming and beyond, CANADA AM offers helpful tips all week, October 25 – 29

There is no shortage of TV programs, specialty stores, and products dedicated to the do-it-yourselfer. This week, CANADA AM’s five-part series “Do It Yourself or Leave It To The Pros,” offers viewers an up-close look of what a DIY enthusiast should do on their own, and those trickier tasks best left to the experts. Hosted by Beverly Thomson and Seamus O’Regan, CANADA AM airs Monday – Friday beginning at 6 a.m. ET on CTV.

Monday, October 25 – For most people, buying or selling a house is one of the largest financial transactions they will ever experience. This morning, CANADA AM walks viewers through home-buying and selling scenarios, offering useful tips on when it makes sense to hire a realtor. Also, ‘80s icon from Down Under, Olivia Newton John, joins CANADA AM to chat about Score – A Hockey Musical, which opens in theatres this weekend.

Tuesday, October 26Home renovations can mean anything from updating décor with a fresh coat of paint to adding an addition. Brian Baeumler, host of popular television program DISASTER DIY, joins CANADA AM this morning, taking viewers through the type of renos that can be easily done by a home owner, and those (re-wiring the basement, anyone?) that should be left to the expert. Canadian musical artist and Blue Rodeo front man Jim Cuddy joins CANADA AM in studio. The celebrated musician chats about the new book Music From Far And Wide: Celebrating 40 Years of the Juno awards, for which he penned the foreword. And internationally renowned Canadian comedian Russell Peters joins CANADA AM to talk about his new book, Call Me Russell, which hits stores today.

Wednesday, October 27 – For car owners who wonder if they can save a few bucks changing the oil, adding new spark plugs – or countless other car-related fixes, CANADA AM brings in a mechanic who gives viewers the low-down on what can be done in the driveway at home, and when you should hand it over to an expert.

And, stunning Canadian actress and star of such Hollywood hits as Watchmen, Malin Ackerman joins CANADA AM today to discuss her latest film, The Bang Bang Club, which premiered last month at TIFF. Also, singer-songwriter Josh Ritter performs on the CANADA AM soundstage.

Thursday, October 28 – CANADA AM checks in with Charles the Butler, who offers up the flat-out best advice with tips on whether you should iron your clothing or get it pressed at the dry cleaner. Also, Five For Fighting performs on the CANADA AM soundstage.

Friday, October 29 – For anyone who has been tempted to try any one of the countless at-home waxing kits available over the counter, CANADA AM looks at the pros and cons of trying out this painful process at home vs. leaving it to the local esthetician. Also, CANADA AM welcomes professional choreographer and SYTYCD CANADA judge Blake McGrath for a live studio performance.

CANADA AM is Canada’s most-watched national morning newsmagazine. Since its launch in 1972, CANADA AM has brought Canadians a unique blend of hard news and lifestyle stories, featuring in-depth interviews with top newsmakers, celebrities and musical stars.
