Handcuffed: New Dramatic Comedy SCOUNDRELS Keeps Crime in the Family, Premiering June 20 on CTV

There’s only one thing keeping the West family together, and that’s handcuffs. As announced last week in CTV’s summer schedule release, the new hour-long series SCOUNDRELS premieres Sunday, June 20 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). A humorous look at a family of small-time criminals who try to turn their lives around after their father is sent to prison, SCOUNDRELS stars Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Virginia Madsen (Sideways, The Astronaut Farmer) as matriarch Cheryl West and Toronto-native David James Elliott (CLOSE TO HOME) as Wolfgang “Wolf” West. Following broadcasts on CTV, SCOUNDRELS will also be available on demand on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca.

Left to Right: Patrick Flueger, John Lawlor, Vanessa Marano, Virginia Madsen, David James Elliott, Leven Rambin, Patrick Flueger, Carlos Bernard.

Based on the New Zealand hit series OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE, SCOUNDRELS also stars Patrick Flueger (THE 4400) as Logan West and twin brother Calvin “Cal” West; Leven Rambin (GREY’S ANATOMY) as Heather West; Vanessa Marano (GILMORE GIRLS) as Hope West; and Carlos Bernard (24) as Sergeant Mack.

In the series premiere “And Jill Came Tumbling After” (Sunday, June 20 at 9 p.m. ET), the family is shaken when their father Wolf (Elliott) is sentenced to a surprisingly long prison term, leaving mom Cheryl (Madsen) to take care of the criminally enterprising brood on her own. In an effort to keep her kids out of trouble, she decides it’s time for the family to go straight.

Meet the West Family:

Wolfgang “Wolf” West (David James Elliott) – Thieving is in his blood, and Wolf learned from the best. His father, Grandpa West, is a world-renowned safe-cracker, and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Wolf’s a criminal, but he’s a criminal with a code. He’s the kind of guy you invite over for a burger and a beer, but you keep the real silverware locked up – just in case.

Cheryl West (Virginia Madsen) – Bold and beautiful is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Cheryl. A mother, wife and a force to be reckoned with, Cheryl will stop at nothing to protect her family.

Cal West (Patrick Flueger) – Certainly his father’s son, Cal works alongside Wolf in “the family business.” He may not be the smartest of the bunch, but what Cal lacks in brains, he more than makes up for in spirit. Cal appreciates the simpler things in life: beer, babes and his bros.

Logan West (Patrick Flueger) – An identical twin (to Cal) yet the odd man out, Logan struggles to find his place in the West family. Having utilized the intelligence and motivation that evaded his brother Cal, Logan strayed from “the family business” to become the exact opposite: a lawyer.

Heather West (Leven Rambin) – Most comfortable when she’s the centre of attention, Heather’s sole future plan is to become a supermodel. Possessing self-confidence and enthusiasm that belie her current status as an unemployed unknown, Heather dedicates most of her time and energy to primping, grooming and waiting for fame to arrive.

Hope West (Vanessa Marano) – Sharp-witted and astute, Hope is quite possibly the smartest member of the West clan. While she undoubtedly loves her family, Hope doesn’t have much in common with her siblings except DNA. Hope finds high school to be a tedious waste of time, distracting her from her bright future as a filmmaker.

Lyn Greene (NIP/TUCK), Richard Levine (NIP/TUCK) and Francie Calfo are executive producers. John Barnett, whose company South Pacific Pictures produces the New Zealand series, is also executive producer. Co-executive producers are Michael Larkin, Michael Goldstein, Bruce Cervi and John Lansing.
