Jann Arden Reveals the Extraordinary Story of her Life and Career in the New CTV and Bravo! Documentary JANN ARDEN: FREE

Jann Arden, one of Canada’s most celebrated singer/songwriters, opens the window to her private life in the new documentary JANN ARDEN: FREE. Premiering just days before the release of Arden’s newest CD/DVD, Spotlight, on November 9, the one-hour documentary follows Arden as she prepares for the recent tour for her last album, Free. Raw and gritty, yet funny and witty, JANN ARDEN: FREE premieres Saturday, November 6 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV and airs Sunday, November 7 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo!. Told through personal stories interwoven with performances of Arden’s heart-felt songs, JANN ARDEN: FREE reveals surprising and poignant memories of her past and her reluctant excitement to get back on the road.

CTV has scheduled additional Jann Arden programming in honour of the CD/DVD release of Spotlight. In addition to her brand new single, “I Can’t Make You Stay”, the double disc set includes a CD featuring eight songs from Bravo!’s JANN ARDEN AT THE CONCERT HALL, broadcast earlier this year. The DVD contains an elongated version of the FREE documentary special, as well as a collection of Jann’s music videos never before released. The music special airs again on Saturday, November 6 at 2 p.m. ET (CTV) and Monday, November 8 at 9 p.m. ET (Bravo!). Additionally, the documentary JANN TAKES MANHATTAN also airs again on Friday, November 5 at 10 a.m. ET on CTV.

In JANN ARDEN: FREE, Arden gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the mounting of her show, shares raw rehearsal performances, and engages in frank conversation about her career and struggles. Through performances of some of her greatest hits, including “Insensitive” and “Unloved”, she recounts the years of dive bars, alcohol abuse and bad decisions before finally making her major label debut at age 30. Now with her tenth album, a new band, new producer and new manager, Bruce Allen, and a return to her songwriting roots, Arden is attempting to redefine her role in an evolving pop music industry. And find a little personal peace along the way.
