Out with the Old and In with the New! CTV Rings in the New Year with a White-Hot Prime-Time Lineup

CTV kicks off 2010 with a prime-time lineup guaranteed to keep you warm this winter. January marks the series premiere of HUMAN TARGET, the two-night season premiere of America’s #1 series AMERICAN IDOL, joined this year by new judge Ellen DeGeneres, THE 67TH ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS and a riveting GREY’S ANATOMY/PRIVATE PRACTICE crossover episode. This month also features the return of CTV hits including DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, GREY’S ANATOMY and THE MENTALIST.

Programming highlights for January 5 – 17 on CTV include:

* George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon star in Ocean’s Thirteen (Jan. 6)
* All four NFL wildcard games air on CTV (Jan. 9 and Jan. 10)
* It’s CTV’s Monday night comedy block featuring TWO AND A HALF MEN and THE BIG BANG THEORY (Jan. 11)
* The CSIs expose the dark side of pop stardom on CSI: MIAMI (Jan. 11)
* New singing hopefuls emerge in the two-night premiere of the ninth season of AMERICAN IDOL (Jan. 12 and Jan. 13)
* Dr. Langston (Laurence Fishburne) continues his search for ‘Dr. Jekyll’ on CSI (Jan. 14)

Tuesday, January 5

8 p.m. – Blades of Glory
In Blades of Glory, a rivalry between the world’s best mens figure skaters – sex addicted improvisational Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrell, Stepbrothers) and germaphobic, precise Jimmy MacElroy (John Heder, Napoleon Dynamite) – turns into a fight on the awards podium resulting in the two men being stripped of their medals and banned from the sporting event for life. Three years later, their desire for a gold medal and a loophole in the rules leads Michaels and MacElroy to compete together in pairs skating as the first male-male pairs team. To win they must overcome their mutual dislike, use the limited time they have to prepare wisely and conquer their coach’s (Craig T. Nelson, COACH) secret history. The only thing left in their way is a series of dirty tricks set up by their opponents, Stranz and Fairchild Van Waldenberg (Will Arnett and Amy Poehler, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE), a pair of siblings who are eager to do anything to emerge victorious.

10 p.m. – LAW & ORDER: SVU – “Quickie” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
When seventeen year-old Andrea McWilliams is found strangled and beaten to death in an alley, her ex-boyfriend leads the cops to a website that McWilliams used to meet up with random men. Detective Benson (Mariska Hargitay) decides to create a user account for the site and finds womanizer Peter Butler (guest star Brian Geraghty, We Are Marshall), the man who met up with McWilliams.

Wednesday, January 6

8 p.m. – Ocean’s Thirteen – CTV PREMIERE
Danny Ocean’s team of criminals is back and is composing a plan more personal than ever. When ruthless casino owner Willy Bank (Al Pacino, Righteous Kill) double-crosses Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould, FRIENDS), causing a heart attack, Danny Ocean (George Clooney, Up in the Air) vows that he and his team will do anything to bring Willy Bank and everything he’s got down. Even if it includes hiring help from one of their own enemies, Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia, New York, I Love You).

Friday, January 8

8 p.m. – GHOST WHISPERER – “Dead Air” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) must help Ned (Christoph Sanders) stop a ghost out for revenge when the Grandview radio station broadcasts the humiliating secrets that led to his death.

9 p.m. – MEDIUM – “An Everlasting Love” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
The police hunt a serial killer targeting innocent women, but when the prime suspect (guest star Pablo Schreiber, THE WIRE) dies, his ghost contacts Allison (Patricia Arquette) to clear his name.

Saturday, January 9

A Green Beret gets the team to re-open the murder case of his recruiter when he provides an alibi for the man believed to have been killed for stolen jewelry. Two-time Emmy® Award-winner and Academy® Award and Golden Globe® Award nominee Mare Winningham (GEORGE WALLACE) guest stars.

9 p.m. – DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES – “You Gotta Get a Gimmick” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
The act of stripping reveals many things. Susan (Teri Hatcher) turns up the heat for Mike (James Denton), Bree (Marcia Cross) learns it won’t be easy to undo the hurt she’s caused Orson (Kyle MacLachlan), Lynette (Felicity Huffman) discovers Tom’s (Doug Savant) true intentions, and Gaby (Eva Longoria-Parker) is forced to examine feelings she’s suppressed about her heritage.

Monday, January 11

9 p.m. – TWO AND A HALF MEN – “Fart Jokes, Pie and Celeste” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
Jake (Angus T. Jones) writes love songs to woo his ex-girlfriend, while Herb (Ryan Stiles) and Alan (Jon Cryer) hide their secret friendship from Judith’s (Marin Hinkle) watchful eye.

9:30 p.m. – THE BIG BANG THEORY – “The Psychic Vortex” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
While Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) attend a university mixer, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) is upset to discover that Penny (Kaley Cuoco) believes in psychics.

10 p.m. – CSI: MIAMI – “Show Stopper” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
When America’s sweetheart, Phoebe Nichols (Lucy Hale, PRIVILEGED), bursts into flames during a concert, the CSIs expose the dark side of pop stardom.

Tuesday, January 12

8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – TWO-HOUR SEASON PREMIERE, PART 1
The wait is over for the return of television’s #1 show! AMERICAN IDOL is back for its much-anticipated ninth season with a two-night premiere featuring new permanent judge Ellen DeGeneres, extraordinary talent and outrageous new auditions beginning in Boston where Victoria Beckham helps out as a guest judge. This season promises to keep on rocking after last season emerged as one of its best ever.

10 p.m. – LAW & ORDER: SVU – “Shadow” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
When a rich and powerful couple with political connections is found dead in their bedroom, Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) decide to speak to the deceased couple’s daughter, Anne (guest star Sarah Paulson, CUPID), for more information. After hearing Anne’s account of a nefarious man who has been following her, the detectives soon discover that Anne’s supposed stalker is none other than Detective Ash Ramsey (guest star Naveen Andrews, LOST) of the Special Frauds division. Convinced that Anne killed her parents for their money, Ramsey becomes suspicious of Anne’s business manager and is led to believe that he helped her steal money from the foundation she runs.

Wednesday, January 13

8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – SEASON PREMIERE, PART 2
On the second night of the two-night season premiere, IDOL hopefuls belt it out at the Atlanta auditions for the panel which includes celebrity guest judge Mary J. Blige.

9 p.m. – CRIMINAL MINDS – “The Uncanny Valley” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
An unusual personal obsession is at the centre of a BAU abduction case. Meanwhile, Hotch (Thomas Gibson) struggles with his return to work.

10 p.m. – CSI: NY – “Criminal Justice” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
The investigation of a brutal stabbing takes a dangerous turn when it’s discovered that evidence at the crime scene was planted, which pits the CSIs against a trusted colleague.

Thursday, January 14

8 p.m. – CSI – “Sin City Blue” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
Two beautiful women are murdered in a Las Vegas hotel and the CSIs uncover an unusual killer during their investigation. Meanwhile, Langston (Laurence Fishburne) continues to hunt ‘Dr. Jekyll’.

9 p.m. – GREY’S ANATOMY – “Blink” – ALL-NEW GREY’S ANATOMY/PRIVATE PRACTICE CROSSOVER EPISODE
In this crossover episode with PRIVATE PRACTICE, Mark (Eric Dane) flies Addison (guest star Kate Walsh, PRIVATE PRACTICE) to Seattle to help with a difficult procedure on his pregnant daughter, Sloan, (Leven Rambin, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES) while Owen (Kevin McKidd) questions Teddy’s (Kim Raver, LIPSTICK JUNGLE) motives when she assigns Cristina (Sandra Oh) the lead on a complicated surgery. Meanwhile, Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) suspicions are raised when the Chief (James Pickens, Jr.) recruits Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) to assist with a high profile operation. Meanwhile, Katherine (Dana Delany) is seeing her own psychiatrist, Gaby (Eva Longoria-Parker) and Susan (Teri Hatcher) are determined to find out which of their kids are in the smartest group at school, and Angie (Drea de Matteo) disapproves of Danny’s (Beau Mirchoff) new girlfriend.

8 p.m. – THE 67TH ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS
The world’s biggest stars are out to celebrate the best in entertainment as comedic powerhouse Ricky Gervais hosts THE 67TH ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS. Airing live across the country for the first time ever, the three-hour celebration of the big and small screens reveals the past year’s greatest works. Canadian directors shine in this year’s nominations as Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) and James Cameron (Avatar) both pick up nods.
