PAN AM Upgrades to Top Tier Status with 1.9 Million Viewers on CTV

As Premiere Week came to a close Sunday, CTV’s new series PAN AM took flight with a sky-high 1.9 million viewers watching the big-buzz series debut. PAN AM grew 9% from its DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES lead-in on CTV (1.7 million), and even more among A25-54 (+26%) and A18-49 (+16%). Winning its timeslot with more than three times as many viewers as THE GOOD WIFE (568,000; Global), PAN AM ended the night as Sunday’s second most-watched program, following a record-breaking season premiere for THE AMAZING RACE with 2.9 million viewers. With the PAN AM premiere, CTV now lays claim to the Top 4 new series on Canadian television, including THE X FACTOR (2.2 million), WHITNEY (2 million), and UNFORGETTABLE (1.7 million).

CTV was once again the overwhelming choice with viewers, finishing the night with the Top 3 programs in total viewers, A25-54, and A18-49. A closer look at Night Seven of Premiere Week:

At 8 p.m.

With 2.9 million viewers, THE AMAZING RACE nabbed its highest fall premiere ever last night, up 18% compared to last fall in total viewers and 19% among A25-54, and delivering a 9.3 rating in Toronto and Vancouver (A25-54).
The premiere attracted million plus audiences in the key demos, with 1.4 million (A25-54) and 1.3 million (A18-49).
THE AMAZING RACE becomes the third most-watched program of the week following TWO AND A HALF MEN and THE BIG BANG THEORY.

At 9 p.m.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES won its timeslot with 1.7 million viewers (and A25-54/A18-49) to become the #3 program of the night.

At 10 p.m.

PAN AM won its timeslot nationally and the metered markets in total viewers and all key adult demos (916,000/A25-54; 792,000/A18-49). The series premiere delivered a 6.3 rating in Toronto (A25-54). More than 4 million unique viewers watched some or all of the broadcast.
On CTV Two, nearly one million viewers (966,000) watched the season premiere of CSI: MIAMI, finishing #2 in the hour only behind CTV’s PAN AM and 70% ahead of THE GOOD WIFE (568,000).

CTV also won Friday night with total viewers and all key adult demos with the Top 2 programs of the evening. Winning the night overall for CTV was the season premiere of last year’s #1 returning new drama BLUE BLOODS with 1.8 million viewers at 10 p.m., followed closely by the season premiere of CSI: NY with 1.7 million viewers at 9 p.m. Both series far outpaced the audience of the series debut of A GIFTED MAN (944,000; Global/CBS) at 8 p.m.
