What Law of Gravity? THE BIG BANG THEORY Keeps Going Strong with 3.7 Million Viewers on CTV

It was another bang-on night for CTV Thursday when 3.7 million viewers tuned in for a new episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY. Coming in as the third most-watched episode in series history behind last week’s two Thursday broadcasts, everyone’s favourite scientists held their position as the #1 program of the night in total viewers and all key adult demos, both nationally and in all metered markets.

Following moderate growth of 2-6% on CTV on Wednesday night, THE X FACTOR grew again Thursday on CTV Two, increasing by double digits among key adult demos (+ 27% / A18-34; +18% / A18-49; + 24% / A25-54). With 1.4 million viewers, it was second in its timeslot (8-10 p.m.) only to CTV programs.

In fact, CTV and CTV Two once again led Thursday, earning all five of the Top 5 programs and winning every hour in primetime last night. In Toronto, Vancouver and Edmonton, CTV and CTV Two were #1 and #2 for the night (7-11 p.m.) among total viewers and all key adult demos.

In the #2 spot among all broadcasts last night, GREY’S ANATOMY at 9 p.m. on CTV is Canada’s most-watched drama of the week with 2.4 million total viewers. Enjoying increases among total viewers and key demos over its premiere last week, GREY’S ANATOMY delivered more than two-and-a-half times the audience of its timeslot competitor, PERSON OF INTEREST (886,000; Citytv/CBS), which fell 8%.

WHITNEY remains Canada’s #1 new comedy with 1.7 million viewers tuning in on CTV, delivering two-and-a-half times the audience of HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN (637,000; Global/CBS) head-to-head at 8:30 p.m. In its first Thursday-night airing, WHITNEY actually increased 5% among A18-34 (411,000) and had more than four times the viewers in that demo versus HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN (95,000 / A18-34).

At 10 p.m., THE MENTALIST moved in to its regular CTV timeslot, ranking as the #3 broadcast of the day with 2.1 million viewers, and earning more than two-and-a-half times the total audience of its nearest 10 p.m. timeslot competitor, PRIME SUSPECT (783,000; Global/NBC), which fell 13%. THE MENTALIST more than tripled the audience of PRIME SUSPECT in the key adult demos.

From 7-8 p.m. CHARLIE’S ANGELS also won its timeslot with 795,000 viewers out of simulcast, and in all key adult demos as well. In its second week, CHARLIE’S ANGELS grew by up to 67% among A18-49 in Toronto, Vancouver and Edmonton.
