Breaking news! Canadians championed Michael J. Fox’s highly-anticipated and long-awaited return to comedy; over 1.2 million viewers (2+, national) tuned in for the series premiere of The Michael J. Fox Show, which aired in a non-simulcast position on Wednesday night, nearly doubling the season premiere of Modern Family. Canadians got an early look at the new show ahead of U.S. audiences and couldn’t get enough of this heartwarming, inspiring, boundary-busting take on contemporary family life, with 93% of viewers staying for the second episode. The show was especially well-received by Fox’s hometown of Vancouver where it tripled the Modern Family audience.
Family relations were also put to the test on Survivor: Blood vs. Water, which won its timeslot with 2.2 million viewers (2+, national) and won 4 of the key demos (A18-49, A25-54, F18-49, F25-54).
DATA HIGHLIGHTS
- The Michael J. Fox Show was the #1 comedy of the night, nearly doubling the Modern Family season premiere, with 1.2 million and 1.12 million viewers for the first and second episodes, respectively (2+, national).
- Survivor easily won its timeslot with 2.2 million viewers (2+, national).
- Survivor won the night in 4 of the key demos and bested its competition by 17% (A18-49), 21% (A25-54), 17% (F18-49), 18% (F25-54).
