ET and ET Canada Deliver Unmatched Award Season Coverage

Roll out the red carpet…Global’s Entertainment Tonight and Entertainment Tonight Canada are kicking off the New Year with wall-to-wall coverage from the most coveted award shows. On location in Hollywood, the people’s most trusted entertainment news source brings fans those special moments they won’t want to miss.

“As a universally recognized and respected entertainment brand, Entertainment Tonight and Entertainment Tonight Canada are granted access to Hollywood’s biggest events,” said Senior Executive Producer, ET Canada, Tamara Simoneau. “From the People’s Choice Awards to the Golden Globes to the Grammys, ET Canada is dedicated to bringing Canadians the most exclusive and entertaining awards season coverage.”

This coverage comes on the heels of an amazing fall season where the two series maintained their crown as Canada’s most watched hour of entertainment news, beating CTV’s combination of eTalk and Access Hollywood by 18% (2+ national) and 30% (Adults 18-49). The hour’s viewership also increased by 37% (2+) vs. Fall ’08.

Here’s what fans can expect in the coming months:

Getting Hollywood’s awards season off to a glamorous start is the 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards tomorrow, Wednesday, January 6 – 9pm ET/PT on Global. ET Canada has the exclusive Canadian access to all the fan favourite talents in music, movies and television including Host, Queen Latifah, Eva Longoria, Kiefer Sutherland, Kate Walsh, Howie Mandel, Miley Cyrus and so much more.

Then, ET and ET Canada are onsite at the 67th Annual Golden Globes on Sunday, January 17th. Known for its informal, freewheeling style, the Golden Globes red carpet is consistently filled with the brightest stars as they step out in their finest for award season’s biggest dinner party. This year’s carpet will feature an array of celebrities including 2010 nominees Emily Blunt, Sandra Bullock, Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan, Jeff Bridges, George Clooney, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman and Tobey Maguire.

A rising star in the award show game, the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards will take place on Saturday, January 23 – 8pm ET/PT. Making its broadcast debut on Global, the SAG Awards are one of the industry’s most prized honours as nominees are selected by fellow actors and award recipients are pegged as Oscar hopefuls. With behind-the-scenes access and interviews with all the high-wattage stars, Global’s entertainment news duo has the intimate details.

Music’s biggest night, the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards gets underway on Sunday, January 31 – 8pm ET/PT on Global with the red carpet pre-show, The Grammy Awards: ET Canada Live, kicking things off at 7pm ET/PT. Scandalous outfits, jaw-dropping interviews and everything in between, ET Canada’s Cheryl Hickey, Rick Campanelli and Kim D’Eon will have the exclusive scoop live from the top of the carpet. Unique to this year’s ET Canada pre-show is the addition of supermodel Coco Rocha who will be stationed alongside the reporting crew as the special guest fashion commentator. Coco will use her extensive professional experience from the catwalk to assess the night’s best and most interesting designer threads.

Finally, ET and ET Canada bring colourful and comprehensive coverage from Hollywood’s Night of Nights: the 82nd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 7th. Up-and-comers and seasoned stars alike will walk Oscar’s famous red carpet for a remarkable evening of honouring the year’s best in cinema. With the preceding award galas serving as a strong indicator, the roster of A-listers expected to attend will surely not disappoint.

ET Canada airs weeknights at 7pm ET/7:30pm PT on Global and 11pm ET/8pm PT on SLICETM. Entertainment Tonight airs weeknights at 7:30pm ET/7pm PT on Global. To catch up on special episodes and all the latest in entertainment news, please visit: www.ETCanada.com.
