ET Canada Hits a High Note with Viewers on New Year’s Eve

ET Canada‘s New Year’s Eve at Niagara Falls garnered an audience of over 4.2 million* viewers (2+, National) at 12am with a 29%*increase over last year making it the number one program at the stroke of midnight in Canada on January 1. The highest rated ET Canada New Year’s Eve broadcast ever**, the show garnered an overall audience of over 1.5 million*** viewers (2+, National) during its two and a half hour broadcast on Global seeing a 30%**** growth in audience compared to last year. The 6th annual coast-to-coast countdown show anchored by powerhouse hosts Cheryl Hickey, Rick Campanelli and Sangita Patel had a total reach of over 8.6 million***** viewers (2+, National).

Broadcast live from the world renowned natural wonder, over 60,000 revellers congregated at the falls to support the annual event and ring in the new year with ET Canada. Despite the chilly temperatures, the electrifying performances by Keith Urban, Nick Jonas, Shawn Mendes and Lights set the crowd on fire as they had partygoers singing along to hit after hit. Nickelback also gave a preview of their Rdio Session at the Orange Lounge scheduled to air January 5 on ET Canada. Show sponsors Special K, Las Vegas, Hershey’s Kisses, Fitbit and Rdio capitalized on the excitement with on-air and online elements throughout the show to keep viewers entertained.

The official show hashtag #ETCanadaNYE took the coveted spot of the number one trending topic in Canada the night of the event with droves of viewers tweeting about the show well into January 1. Fans also crowned Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, as 2014’s Star of the Year as announced live on the broadcast after the final votes were tallied for the 64 celebrities listed in the poll.
